McDavid and Oil fans are on the Titanic I think.
Or. McDavid is the Titanic and Chia is the iceburg. - Flamin_Irishmin
It was amazing when our team overachieved two years ago... all those players having career years. Perhaps food for thought ? |

Nor can I.
And why is this? What do we as fans owe this franchise? After having been made to suffer through this last decade of near continuous failure and ineptitude, why should we fans be expected to maintain faith with an organization that has done less than nothing to earn it? |

Problem is too many fans and in Edmonton's case media do nothing but drink the Koolaid and are apologists. There are Edmonton media personalities on air right now in Edmonton blaming the refs for Saturday night. Its delusional...the team sucks, they are on pace for 80 points and its not the refs fault. Hockey is a contact sport, teams are gonna try and hit McDavid...nobody cares about your stupid videos, any star player could make a similar video, you aren't gonna get every call. |

How has Katz not fired this guy? You cant have this guy run another trade deadline |

Word on the street is Chia is in the market for an Eberle or a Hall type. Thoughts? Sorry, it just gives me great joy even though the Canucks are also bad. Thing is yiu guys easily could be contenders next year. But for now, in the words of Nelson Muntz: HA HA! |

If I was still living in Edmonton I would be picketing outside Oiler offices rallying for some accountability from management. Chiarelli must be canned. God help them if Lowe and Tambellini are even higher up, I'm not sure their mgmt structure. Shouldn't take long to start enough public action. But you're right everyone is an apologist and is delusional, do something! You have the power!
I like Hitch but he's got a poopty roster.
I'm not even an Oiler fan and I want this... wtf

I consider myself as big an Oiler fan as there is for sure. But end of the day, it’s just home team. Who has the time or the will to fuking picket?
Don’t give them ur money, b1tch and moan alot when it goes bad. And hope things change for next year. If not? Rinse/repeat I guess
I feel the sentiment, but Other than that, not much a reasonable person gonna do I don’t think |

It's astonishing how much interference the Oilers D got away with last night. Do wonder if some of that is just the refs taking pity on some of these guys because they simply cannot skate. |

It’s not the refs. It’s not coaching. It’s not lack of effort (most nights)
It’s lack of talent
Even the ones who make excuses like the aforementioned are starting to become fewer and farther between.

I thought Mike Tomlin & co. were the scapegoats of year-in-year-out ineptitude. How very wrong I was.
Why can't Katz stick to selling drugs |

Yeah, all you can do is make your position known and don't buy tickets or merch. Show them with your wallet, because to waste the (frank)ing treasure trove of talent that has been handed to this team over the past 6 or so years is (frank)ing disgraceful. |

Yep. There's just way too much money tied up in way to poopty of players.
I don't know who calls the shots, or who lets who call the shots, but what Katz has allowed to happen to his team is embarrassing. |

Explain.. there are so many holes on the roster and in the organization. It's not a quick turnaround, they need a thorough evaluation of scouting and development staff, with the ensuing dismissal of nearly everyone involved. How many picks past the first round can they turn into NHLers?

It really is. Irks the eff outta me
All that losing. And then hit the jackpot with a generational talent to add to the assets u acquired from the Losing. And a good cap situation
Then piss it all away
Buddy gutted the high end forward depth while not actually fixing the defence. Lol |

I’m not necessarily agreeing with said post, but even just one PROVEN top 6 scorer could go a long way. Not saying a true contender, but potentially out of the more of mediocrity we’re currently in.
Connor goes a LONG way.
That said- of course undesirable cap needs to be cleared for anything beyond a rental. (Looch, Sekera/russel, now Manning etc )
Also- the farm looks deec for the first time in forever. At least much better than it has. One thing pc might deserve some credit for. If a few come up and thrive long term of course. So even that’s up in the air.
But again, are we doing the waiting thing again with Connor going into his 5th year? That seems like a crazy strategy 9 years after declaring a rebuild. Will he bail if we do? |

I know that's a lot to ask, I know how brutal the weather can be in Edmonton. I don't want anyone to freeze to death with a pitchfork in their hands.. but my point is a movement that has to get started. I don't think it will take long at all to get a whole lot of fans involved. You guys are passionate, and unfortunately heads have got to start rolling.

No, that's the Oilers standard they have to uphold because that's what McDavid has to put up with. |

Flash fire kinda touched on this I think. I’m never a ref blamer. Everyone gets and gives bad calls.
But fact is, Connor is mugged and impeded far too often. “Can’t call everything” - why not ? That’s the rules no?
As mentioned, Our defence would get called alot more too. Fair enough |

I will say that games against Western Conference opponents do tend to have an awful lot more grabbing and uncalled hooks and such than what I'm used to against Metro and Atlantic opponents. |
