Every team that acquired him immediate shops him...something is wrong with the dude.
- CanuckDon

Whether someone is a bible-thumper or a slutty, coke whore, they are at the far end of a spectrum compared to the majority of the team and become a distraction and divisive. No thanks.

Apparently the rookie dinners in Carolina were dry affairs while Ron Francis was captain. He was uber religious and banned alcohol. Most of the team hated him.

The restaurant I worked at in Vancouver did 1 to 3 rookie dinners a year. We heard a lot of stories from veteran players. Mats Sundin told his rookies not to tip on the booze. The bartender stopped being a life long Leafs fan that night.

I don't know the facts but I think in Calgary he had a difference of opinion than the rest of the team. When I call them piss tanks I am serious. There was the talk about their reputation about their drinking and partying. The coach threw his stick into the stands and benched players. Bible guys don't usually go bar hopping and he probably got asked Are you too good for us? Or he got ridiculed. I really don't see Canucks as a bunch of piss tanks.

I heard all the boys put down the bottle and trained real hard this off season ...glad those bunch of piss tanks got their poop together ๐Ÿ˜‰

Outside of Virtanen and maybe Goldobin/Hutton, they do seem like a team full of husbands, nerds and choir boys

Gio is a beast though, he made Brodie look like an upcoming star at one point, then Brodie got taken off of that pairing and regressed into a whipping boy for their fans.
- Nucker101

absolutely he is, but when paired with Hamilton, they were exceptional. When you have an exceptional 1st pairing defensive pairing, why break it up? Just my opinion, but I would definitely have hesitations about acquiring him, the cost, etc.

The hawks are bunch of boring asses too ....after the games everyone goes home and thereโ€™s no comradeship amoingst the boys ....apparently Toews is a major stats dork too ...captain serious

Flyers apparently are a fun team tho ...so maybe the boozing needs a limit lol

I agree that there's definitely some off-ice things going on behind the scenes but I could see why they made the deal hockey-wise as well. Hanifin and Lindholm are more cost controlled overall than Ferland and Dougie. Especially since Ferland is a pending UFA and Dougie is a UFA when his deal is imp, compared to Hanifin being a RFA.

They got younger and cheaper so even if they though the deal was break-even in terms of talent, they still win due to age/contracts.

Fox is a wildcard in the deal but apparently didn't want to sign with the Flames anyway.

Gagner and spooner get paid the same amount. If anything, gagner gets paid more. Goldobin for puujarvi would be a landslide of a homerun. Dont get me wrong, i would love it but youre out of your mind if you think theyโ€™re in the same class
- neem55

It's not what you or I think, it's what Chiarelli thinks. And right now he's experiencing a little anxiety. There is no next season for him. It's all or nothing, today.

Goldobin has 5 goals and 23 points in 44 games. Puljujarvi has 4 goals and 9 points in 38 games. Given there is no future to consider, you're right, they're not even close to being in the same class.

As much as it pains, gotta side with Neem. Puljujarvi has wayyy more value than Goldobin. Donโ€™t forget that Goblin is 3 years older! Puljujarvi May still have a promising future while Goblin is a confirmed bust

I think they are next years Hischer and Patrick
- VANTEL

Lol, Hischer and Patrick couldn't carry Hughes jock strap.

So you don't think that they'll be stars?

On another subject, how can they stay on the NHL roster after they've cleared waivers?
