Now that you mention Yak, its really been a string of bad GMs, with this one outdoing his predecessors. The talent exodus rivals biblical proportions. Ultimately guys running the upper-house like nicholson & co need to hit the door. Upfront CmD, Drai and Nuge are the only people of value. And (frank) no to rattie

My company has an office in EDM. I always ask why its such a sh!t show up there. They all think both Draistle adn MCD will be gone and traded away. But the interesting thing is the general fans all feel the team doesnt take hockey seriously. Lots of rumors floating around revolving around what to do after the game. The culture is just to collect a pay check and party.

But why? He literally makes no more sense than any random player out there.

There’s such a weird infatuation with this guy from some people on here. He’s a former 2nd round pick from 20 (frank)in 11.

Saying it’s no risk is true for anyone on a contract like his.

I don't really care for him or want the Pens to sign him. I was just answering your question about people in general wanting reclamation project players.

Chiarelli had a bad track record in Boston even before he came to EDM (even with the Stanley Cup win). It's amazing how long he has lasted in Edmonton. I dont know a lot about their ownership group but they must either not be paying attention or just not care. Him pretty much giving away Taylor Hall should have been the end of him in Edmonton.

I mean can you really blame them? The situation in Edmonton is hopeless. All these guys know they're probably not gonna make the playoffs at the beginning of the season, and by November they probably know it for sure. I'm saying that its cool that they've mailed it in, but I am saying its hard not to.

Once again, can you blame these guys for mailing it in? That guy is (frank)ing 30 years old, has t done poop, and now is taking up a decent part of the cap that could have been used for actual talented players.

It really is hard to believe he still has his job. Why would they continue to trust a guy who has basically mangled several big trades.

I remember people praising this Ty Rattie guy when he was in St.Louis. I thought Spooner could be useful. Not following him this year to properly judge his play.

I feel bad for McDavid. The best player in the world on the worst team in the NHL because the leagues worst GM is in charge of it. What a dumpster fire.

maybe he can come here. he would be accepted here. we know how to handle generational talents and make a team around them.

There’s still so much time for the Oilers to turn things around but first they absolutely need a new GM. Maybe Koskinen can take them there, but it certainly doesn’t appear that way at least not yet. Seriously.. what if they somehow got Hamilton in a 3-way trade or something without giving up a core player. We all know the impact a key defender can make on a team. For now I think MoJo and Lovejoy could really help the Oilers. I think MoJo could do alright skating with RNH and some PP2 time and obviously Lovejoy brings an experienced presence they could use. I’m guessing Sekera makes them at least a bit better? I read online that’s why they had to waive Rattie and Spooner was that financially they needed room to activate Sekera

Agreed.... They have tons of time. Look how long it took the Pens to build around Mario. The Oil are waaaaay ahead of the Penguins in 83.

What I wouldn't do is waste any more time on Chia. Dump that fool.

It’s like RW has been saying these last couple offseasons about Pitt: they already have the hardest pieces to obtain. Maybe Koskinen can be more consistent, idk. Imagine if they somehow added, say, Gardiner, Sheahan, Maroon, Panik or something along those lines. If they could free up some cap space for those offseason editions obviously it changes everything.

In all honesty, I could see possibly Arizona taking on Lucic BUT EDM has to retain some salary and obviously they have to sweeten the deal for AZ. This is how Carolina got Teravainen, could see AZ trying something somewhat similar
