Let’s be honest, Mark Stuart could be inserted into this lineup today and we’d still have a winning record

God doesn’t have a shot like Laine.

Yes. Your comments are bang on correct and CharlieDog's comments sums it all up. If God played on our team and cost Dano or Petan or Perreault or Laine a spot then he/she would find himself on Rexy's regular hit list. It isn't any more complicated than that.

Defence was the name of his game. He had a legitimate argument for best shutdown D in the world last season. Ignoring that, his transition game was still strong, and that shows by the Jets controlling offence A LOT more with him out there
- Rexypoo

If his transition game was strong, he would have piled on more assists. Your initial comment about him was about how offensively gifted he was. He was when he first entered the league, in his last few season, he was a liability!

OK !

Should Chevy make a move on Oleksiak ? ... I (and others) have posted LHD as a need and this guy's a mountain of a man with a mean streak - AND - playoff experience ... 2 yrs left at $2.1M cap

If yes - I'll open the bidding: Perrault + Petan + a 3rd

Too much ? Too little ?

- CorydonKeith

If the Jets are scouting Pittsburgh, hopefully they are scouting Wheeler's other friend in Kessel. He is the only winger worth trading for.

Ross. I gotta ask this because you and several others always throw Dano's name out there in a trade. If there is not one NHL team that wants Dano for free then why on earth would they want him as part of a trade. Add to that is that Dano isn't even performing well in the AHL ( 11 points in 20 games) even though he is on the top line. So if no one wants him for free then he's not worth even a 10th round pick or as a throw in. That's just my simple reasoning on the matter.

Petan might still be worth a 4th or 5th although I have to say , Petan has had his chances on the top two lines and the PP in the past and never produced anything of significance. His stock has dropped a ton.

- jetsnation

I still think Petan has been underutilized here. If they move on from him, I hope we get more of a return than just a 4th.

I thought Petan would be an Oiler long ago. Tough breaks for the kid as well. He starts with the big club, his father passes away. It has been a tough year for him.

Alright, let’s just make a deal on this one, because we’re usually pretty cordial: I won’t talk bad about Myers to you if you don’t talk bad about Enstrom to me. Everyone else is fair game, but we’re shooting on personal favourites here. It’ll never end

Petan would be a perfect fit in Edmonton. I’d die to see him line up with McJesus and Poolparty

I wasn’t specifically saying Dano, was more saying a player like Dano. And for the record Dano’s points per game Are not horrible. but I agree, I think his nhl window has closed.
As for Petan, he has played two games in the top two lines and was given about 5 chances on the pp. and I actually loved the way he looked in one game with shief and wheels. I dont consider that a chance. I won’t agree with you that Lemieux or Appleton are better. Just won’t. So no need to beat a dead horse on that one.

*whispers* Lemieux is still probably the worst NHL forward going, and his effect on that lines shot and expected goal share can be described as “lawn dart”

The way I am seeing it between the three, its not about who's better but more of what the club needs in that particular matchup, who is delivering a consistent performance of what ever the coach wants and limited spots amongst a talented team. Petan started on the big club, then the unfortunate passing of his father occured and the team went for however many games into the season before his return. In the meantime you got a couple of call ups that are playing their 4th line @$$'s off and moved up the chart.

Appleton has earned his shot, for sure.

I’ve never seen a player move his feet less than Lemieux. It’s a wonder he won fastest skater for us once, and somehow manages to lag behind almost every play. His lazy streak is the most dangerous part of his game.

I'll take that deal bro. Easy deal. Enstrom is dead to the world and Myers is in the limelight . You wont be able to help yourself...except this.......DONE !....I'll never mention Enstrom in a bad way again.

....and then there is that other caveat......about never ending your crusade for favorites. No Deal......learn to live with your bad calls like Dano and Postma. Denial of the obvious is your weak point. Learn to move on.

Wasn’t speaking to you, my good sir.

The end of our constant bickering will be a re-enactment of that ludicrously long glasses-based fight from They Live. Except the glasses are instead rose coloured goggles that will make you love our dear Saint Nicolas of Petan, as all of us should. It will obviously end in a stalemate, at which point the hockey gods will descend from the heavens and claim us both, thus restoring peace to the fandom.

Our names will be forever remembered in a cautionary tale about the dangers of favouritism, stubbornness, and being all out of bubble gum.

Lemieux lazy? Don’t think so. I have been following him since He first arrived at the Moose and his game is no different with the big club than with the Moose.

Rexy, this is a classic example of you don’t like him so you say crazy things like he is lazy. I predict Lemieux has a regular spot with the occasional blip of trying to give some ice time to Petan from now to the end of the season. And, He starts regular 4th line come playoffs. He has made the most of his chances, has significantly improved his game, goes to the net etc like he is supposed to. I am looking forward to Lemieux come playoffs where his game style will again show his value to the team.

If you think it's going to end in a stalemate then you have some serious catching up to do.

...and that Lemieux being lazy comment just put you even farther behind.

I can't see Hitch putting one of the slowest players in the NHL alongside one of the fastest unless he doesn't like the cold weather in Edmonton and is looking for an out.

As a side note. Ty Rattie clearing waivers is this year's lesson in why you don't draft your hockey pool based on preseason success. Guys got burned in both my pools on Rattie.

So the Oleksiak idea has met with less than an enthusiastic response ... unless he comes with his sister ... so be it

I'm standing by my 2C+LHD upgrade requirement for the playoff run ... not moving

Interesting to see statements that Chariot better than Oleksiak anyway - perhaps Big Ben starting to see his due

<< but imagine being a winger and skating north to see: Oleksiak and Byf ! ... that wouldn't be a $5.7B wall but just as big ... 13 feet high and 520 lbs ! ... and less than $10M >>

Back to my drawing board

Enstrom is a non-issue. I think my point about him was proven. I also think its dumb to talk about a player that is not even playing in the NHL.

I am glad you are acknowledging you make biased statements based on certain players being your favorites as it appears many of your comments were coming strictly from analytics boards.

Hopefully this discussion about our #4-5 defenceman is over. I would prefer to talk about Scheifele's ice-time and the needs of our top performers.

So, is that you accepting the deal?
And acknowledging the giraffe as your favourite animal in our zoo?

And I agree, we have a lot of problems to discuss that aren’t 6’8” or in Sweden
