the Rumors started here as just talk of who we might like. there are honestly no rumors of who the jets want at this deadline circling. chevy is a vault.
as per this talk of Chairot, Tanev and Myers. these three couldn't be more easily replaceable and dishing out raises to these guys is how you turn into Edmonton - Ross77
Myers brings a unique skill set, outside the first month of this season has been a beast on the blue line and has one of the strongest Corsi numbers on the team. I love that guy.
Chariot has been the best thing to happen to Byfuglien. He allows Buff to spend time in the offensive zone and will punish wingers on Byfuglien's offside unlike what's that other guys name he used to play with.
Tanev has almost as many even strength goals as Laine and he plays with Lowry and Perreault and has 0 power play time - figure that one out! |

PLAYOFFS !! ... think playoffs only
2C and LHD to add ... rentals only needed
Otherwise - take the break and get prepped for the run - CorydonKeith
No rentals, if we are giving up top prospects and picks, we trade bad contracts with them to get back something that will be sustainable, ala Butch Goring. |

every year only one team will win the cup and then can say whatever deadline deal they made was worth it. all other teams will question the trades based on the cost. - Ross77

Rentals are a beautiful option for the right player. It lets you inject strength into the lineup without a long term commitment.
Jets are just about the youngest team in the league with solid prospects pressing for roster spots and minutes. We can give from our strengths to fill the gaps. Trade picks/prospects to gain a bird in hand, there is a chance they will sign on for longer anyway.
The object is to win the cup, not stock the cupboard.

I don't know but the Jets have been a winning team the last two seasons with him as a starter the last time I checked. I don't know maybe the standings have been wrong. - TheUltimateJet
Chiarot wasn’t a starter last season. Notice how much shakier our blueline is? |

I should also add that despite Statsny's chemistry in last years playoffs , the cost was quite steep. We lost a promising Eric Foley who's success is yet to be determined , but more importantly , Rasmus Sandin looks like an awesome prospect who would /could have been ours. I'd rather trade away a redundant Perreault that lose another great prospect. - jetsnation
Myers is the definition of a player being carried by his team. He’s been shockingly great with Kulikov, and the same can be said of Kuli with the giraffe, but he still isn’t showing himself to be a top 4 dman. I cannot think of any team outside of Ottawa and Detroit that would immediately improve their top 4 via Myers.
Perreault is not redundant in any way. He’s been used to carry lines all season. He makes EVERYONE he plays with better. This is both clearly visible, and easily learned via statistical analysis. He’s an incredible value contract, has chemistry with everyone you line him up with, and he’s as capable on the top line as he is running the 4th. You don’t move him to give more money to fringe players like Tanev and Chiarot |

I’m almost 100% sure that if Trouba signed a bridge deal without holding out first, this “trade Trouba” and “Trouba is overrated” nonsense wouldn’t exist. |

We need 2 things:
1: Lowry as 2C
2: Jake Muzzin |

When Chiarot was in the line-up last season, the team went 36-14-7, yep definite loser! |

Tyler Myers is in his 5th season as a Jet. The team will have made the playoffs in 3 of those seasons. He missed one season due to having a critically ill newborn and high ankle sprain. The man gets us to the playoffs!
In 20 playoff games, he has 8 points for .4 ppg. The man is a beast! |

Ah, yes. The ole “bottom pairing defencemen gets us in the playoffs” routine. Wait, what?
On a more serious note, the offence has never been the problem with Myers. He’s excellent when attacking from the line, and he’s got a superpower for getting his shot through traffic. He also doesn’t drive the play for sh*t, and has legitimately bottom tier defence. He’s a nice, but ultimately unnecessary and overpriced, complementary piece. |

Let’s be honest, Mark Stuart could be inserted into this lineup today and we’d still have a winning record |

I’d love to see the shot and goal shares for Big Ben during that stretch. This seems to be a case of confusing correlation with causation.

I do know one thing, Byfuglien has played the best hockey of his career playing with Big Ben. If it were not for his injury he sustained this year, he would have had a career year.
See what i did there |

I don't know about that, he has a positive Corsi in every year he's been a Jet. Is that not the stat you base player evaluation on?
2014-15 - 50.3
2015-16 - 52.2
2016-17 - 50.1
2017-18 - 50
This season - 50.7
Those are numbers of a guy who drives play. More impressive for the fact that he normally plays with the Jets 3rd and 4th lines. |

Can you hit me again with his numbers relative to his line mates? 50 is great for a Senator, but hilarious for a Bolt.
Worth noting, last season’s offensive juggernaut Mr. Tobias Enstrom ran a around 58%. Same goes for Buff. Trouba and Morrissey were 55ish as well, if memory serves |

Very difficult to do considering he doesn't have a consistent defensive partner. But good try Rexy! |
