Frost isn't as good as Schremp? BUST

Schremp had the sickest pair of hands in the history of hockey.

He enjoyed hanging jocks in the rafters more than actually playing hockey, it seemed.

I’m just thinking of recent Tandems in Tampa, Nashville. Of course Tampa has to give up Bishop to let the young guy they got from Nashville to play. Bob isn’t playing every night in Columbus anyway. It was just something I’m thinking about.
- SuperSchennBros

Bob is likely going to want a Carey Price-esque deal (max years, $9M per). That, coupled with the fact that Carter Hart has all of tools to be a #1 (although with a limited record so far), would make me hesitant. Also, with a guy like Hart being groomed as a #1, I think Bob would want somewhere where he's guaranteed to get the starts, which is the reason he wanted out when we had Bryz.

I think that, as Flyers fans, we really have to ask the question: Why isn't John Olerud in the Baseball Hall of Fame?

No, because you're still trading Gudas for a 3rd. If the Flyers want Coburn or Girardi, they can sign them as a UFA (and, IMO, they should see what Coburn's looking for as a 6/7D).

But seriously, unless you're trolling, the Flyers would need assets that don't expire this season, aren't cap dumps, and preferably ones that can contribute as early as next season.

- jmatchett383

Solid points. I think Coburn is re-signable on a 1-yr or 2yr contract. Short term at a discount. He has experienced a renaissance this year. He is skating better than I have ever seen him skate in a Lightning uniform. I would not hesitate to resign him to a one year deal.

Girardi, on the other hand, is a pylon. Great grit, experience, leadership, shot blocking, penalty killer, yada yada yada. I wouldn't resign him.

Coburn, Masin, and 3rd for Gudas. The 3rd is conditional and becomes a 2nd if Coburn doesn't resign.

I don't really known much about Masin, but he's seemed to take a step backwards (offensively) this year. I think I'd rather have Volkov, tbh. But I think I'd rather keep Gudas over that.

I mean, I'd LIKE to have Raddysh, but the Flyers would have to be the ones giving more on that.

For the same reason that we're trading Amac and a 4th for Panarin (though not as drastic).

If you are trading an expiring contract no one wants then the team has to add value for incentive. Make a trade proposal without an expiring contract or salary dump, if you have to because of cap reasons then add a asset of value just to take those.

Wait...I missed the part of the condition, why would the Flyers want to re-sign Coburn?

Is there a roster freeze during the all star break, or are GM’s allowed business as usual during the week?

As a Gudas/AMac/Folin replacement. A good 6/7.

Listening to the Phantoms vs. Penguins game on the radio. Score 0 to 0 at the end of the 1st. Phantoms playing with 9 forwards.

Frost's 1.97 PPG is pretty awesome considering the era and competition.

Here's a list of the best PPG seasons in OHL history for comparison:

So basically trading Gudas for a 3rd...I'd rather just keep him for one year. Coburn is terrible, just because he is on the best team doesn't make him look any better. I wouldn't sign Coburn for free in the offseason, let alone make a trade for him.

I will always feel like we let one slip with Gudas. Not that he is anything spectacular in one given area of the game, but he played a nice role in Tampa as the hammer on the backend. Tampa has always had towering d-men and tiny forwards, but most of our big d-men were not hitters. Gudas made people think twice. We got rid of Gudas and we haven't had anyone fill those skates yet. Cernak is big and seems to have a mean-streak, so maybe he can be the guy.

Masin is a head-scratcher. Seems solid, but his production is moving in the wrong direction as you said. He's still on the right side of the age curve, so he might work out with a bit more seasoning.

Normally, I don't think Volkov would be in play. Yzerman loves his Russians, but he's leaving after this season, so maybe. I would move Volkov for Gudas. Tampa has an embarassment of riches at forward and can afford to deal one to make up for the mistake of letting Gudas go in the first place.

Well, that's why he proposed a 3rd (conditional 2nd) as well as a prospect.

I still wouldn't make the deal, but it wasn't just Coburn and a 3rd, either.

So Masin to take Coburn's contract and Gudas for a 2nd...still a major pass.

Tampa Bay has over $4M in cap space, they don't need anyone to take Girardi or Coburn. It's a UFA, a prospect, and a conditional 2nd/3rd for Gudas.

Well then that's fine, you don't have to like the return. Like I said, I wouldn't either.
But not, it's not like we're taking Coburn because Tampa Bay needs to get rid of him to add Gudas.

Spooner and Rattie both on waivers; could either be an upgrade over Weise/Lehterä? Or could either replace Varone so he can be sent down for Phantoms help? I know NAK was assumed to be a call up soon, but didn’t he get injured other night?

Again Tampa could have 15m in cap space, if Tampa wants to include him to anyone then add something.

It's weird because Flyer fans hate the Folins, MacDonalds and Mannings, but every year they want to add one and pretend oh this one will be better.

Flyers need a right-hand shooting Nr.1 D-man and a solid Backup goalie what can do at least 40 games.Carter Hart is ready in my view to play at least 30 games next year
Any news about Raffl. With 8 minutes per game he is in the same position like Dale Weise.
