I would re-sign all three of them. - manvanfan
You think they need to worry about falling out of last place? There's a team if ever that needs a total rebuild

We should trade with them... or Edmonton. - Pres.cup
I would trade them Tanev for a 1st and 3rd conditional 2nd if they make the playoffs. |

They wanted tchunk and didn't know they'd be this bad because Dorian is an idiot. - Pres.cup
They traded two of their best players for picks , they knew what was ahead. I would have taken Tkachuk 10 times out of 10 over Jack Hughes too.
TChuk was drafted was taken at 4 . Hughes is listed as 1 which proves that this years draft is not as good as last years |

Yikes, this is why you're not a GM. I don't think any NHL GM would take tchunk over Hughes, and that's without Hughes playing a single game.
Wanna bet that hughes will have a better first year in the NHL then tchunk did? Location bet? |

Codes Benning - VANTEL
I know it doesn’t matter now, and might not two years down the road, but the Canucks salary structure at forward is (frank)ed up - based on the practice lines.
That 4th line makes $10m and the first barely $3 |

I think the point is to at some point try and get out of a last place. Trading away your two best players with no help insight wouldn't be a rebuild, It would be a disaster. |

You say that is why I am not a GM
What is the team you are the GM of?
You don't think any GM would ever take Tkachuk over Hughes and yet that choice has already happened . |

Being older we will look at the previous years stats for Tkachuk and Hughes
Tkachuk U.S. National U18 Team USDP 61 25 29 54
Hughes U.S. National U18 Team USDP 36 27 41 68
It's not even (frank)en close. |

Doesn't really "prove" anything, just that you prefer Tkachuk over Hughes. Hughes will be a better, more dynamic player than Tkachuk for a longer period of time, easily. If Hughes was in last years draft, it would have been 1 and 2 with him and Dahlin. |

You just can't win . years ago people always complained Canucks never had a decent bottom 6 . We wanted to go get Dave Bolland and his 6 mil.
We get a decent bottom 6 and move up in the standings and people now want a 3 mil 4 th line.
I don't know what to tell you guys. |

Who is preaching slow rebuild? I think everyone here wants some trades and wants some signings , they just don't want stupid trades and signings - VANTEL
I'm still on board with slow and steady. No free agents anchor contracts. Move out pieces like Edler at the deadline for either picks prospects or younger players with upside. Sutter is redundant at this point as others have mentioned and I'm pretty sure he will be dealt before next season to make a spot for Gaudette. As far as the draft is concerned.... they are 18 yr old kids... to make blanket statements about their being no impact players at this point is just rediculous. Saying that , this is how the league replenished itself with young unproven talent. We can all agree this team needs more talent , and currently is carrying several players who are nothing more then place sitters. I like Jb's work at the draft and I like the teams change in philosophy towards marinating players in developmental leagues so yes I'm still on board for slow steady draft and develop ! |

I remember thinking when they Signed Molhotra for 2.75 I think it was a lot. He was worth it. I have no problems with Beagle, he’s a good player, sounds like a good influence. My problem is with you bozos who complain about one guy scoring only 5 goals, but a cup champ who only scores 5 goals is great. If goals are the only measuring stick then neither guy measures up.
I got into a very annoying argument with Prezzy about Sutter being a top what, 90 Centre in the league? Basically I said there were literally 100 players I would select over Sutsey who could play C. Do people still think that highly of him? |

No, it doesn't.
It proves a GM took a known known over a known unknown. Dorion took Tkachuk at number 4, without knowing where this years pick would be.
Right now, Ott sits at 28, so they could be picking anywhere from 1-7 as it stands. Could they have gotten Hughes at 1? Yes. But they also could have gotten someone worse than both Hughs and Tkachuk at 7, so IMO Dorion played the odds and took what he knew last year, instead (and hoping) that this years pick would be worse because the team would be better. |
