I reallly like that new second line. That 3rd line is quite simply devastating
- CanuckDon

The 2nd line is tasked with shutting down Eichel

To be clear I didn't say I wanted the team to make the playoffs, I think most here agree it would be better if we didn't make the playoffs and managed to grab another pick (hopefully in the top 10) My point was what we the fans want and what the actually players want are two completely different things. But the other teams you speak of are really not much better than us. Colorado, Dallas, Minny, Edmonton, Anaheim have all had their problems and are currently slumping. People keep saying wait till the other teams tighten up and start making their push, well i'm waiting - and i don't see it happening.
- Brooks_Light

If you dont think Colorado and Minnesota are easily quite a bit better than us than thats your opinion... but man do ever disagree!

not to sound like a broken record, but why is Edler continuously brought up in the trade debate. Hasn't this been defunked with evidence and quotes from Edler himself, that he isn't waiving and its within his terms of his contract not to be dealt?

As far as Tanev, I won't dispute that his value warrants a top 2 round pick, but I also feel like if we were to deal him, we would have done it already. Not saying it isn't a good or bad move, but I have the feeling that Tanev holds massive value to management, and is on a capfriendly deal, so I am not sure he gets dealt.

lol wow

I’m far from a Goldy fan, but I’d play him simply because of who else I have to pick from. The lack of skill after the top line is embarrassing.

Luckily it’s the Sabres but still

Tanev is being saved to play with Hughes. Plus he is loyal to the org so as long as his body holds up he can be signed to another team-friendly contract when his current one is up

I honestly haven't heard any rumors or anything like that to do with Tanev, but this ^ would not surprise me in the least.

Get something for Tanev/Edler now before they are injured again next season...before they will be worthless on the trade market. This team will move forward just fine without them as we did minus the Sedins.

The issue isn't whether Edler has value or not, because I would say right now he has a ton. The issue is his full NTC and his desire (vocal) to stay as a Canuck and re-sign as a Canuck.

Tanev is a free agent after next season and will be going on the wrong side of 30. Team should be closer to the playoffs next season with Hughes and natural progression of the younger players but I think it would be smarter to get rid of Tanev this season when his value would be higher.

if he signs this year and plays 1 game, I believe it burns a year of his ELC
if he plays 11 games this year, it makes him eligible to be claimed in the Seattle Expansion (of course Canucks will protect him though)

- Codes1087

If he plays more then 9 games he's not expansion exempt. You're correct otherwise.

Because he is still a Canuck. Hasn't been traded, hasn't retired. It was the exact same way with the Sedin's for years. It will never be over until he doesn't play for the team anymore.

Expansion draft protection doesn't matter. We don't have enough good players here to protect. No need in getting crazy about it.

Ep Brock Bo Quinn Gaudette Demko of our 1st plays this next draft. The rest literally.dont matter

- Jkuzzi

Panarin, Karlsson, edler(NMC), virtanen, OJ are also players that will need to be protected. That's 6 forwards. I wouldn't protect Gaudette myself.

If he can still play the game he's playing now and is willing to take a discount I would argue he's exactly the type of guy to help this team once they're in playoff competition
