You have been passing judgement all year just like the rest of us. I know you said for a fact right after training camp Canucks would finish dead last. That is passing judgement.

I am judging how they have played up to now. I am not predicting.

I still think they will finish bottom 5. They are heading in the right direction, slowly, but I certainly don't fall into 'the rebuild is over camp' waving my Jim Benning is flawless pom-poms.

has anyone actually said that the rebuild is over? I think I read Bob say it yesterday or the day before, but does anyone else actually believe that?

again, saying "we don't have enough good players to protect today" is pretty short-sited. The expansion draft is 2021, not today. I agree, Hughes will get protected no matter what, but if it means losing the option to have him play on march 11th instead of march 15th or 16th and be automatically protected, we are losing the option over a game or two?
All players drafted this year and beyond will automatically be protected, but saying "who cares about the expansion, we don't have enough good players" is just silly, we aren't protecting the players today, we are protecting what will be a significantly different roster in 2.5 years.

Luke Schenn?

He was awesome for my NHL 2010 Canuck team. Got me a Norris trophy if I remember correctly. The guy is stuffed with potential.

barring a trade/significant injury to our D, I have a feeling we don't see him play a single game in a Canuck uni

So facts = pom poms?

cus all the players in that room are going "we're a few points out of the playoffs guys, but you know what, if we do make it in, we're just gonna get bounced in the 1st round, and its gonna fawk up our drafting position and mess up this rebuild so maybe we should all stop trying to win games."

yup thats an accurate inside track into the mind of a pro athlete.

It would make sense.

Same as when Benning shuts down Loui at TDL because they are out of the picture it turns his salary into a 4 mil salary paid by ownership not 6

Sutter Tanev Edler and Gudbrandson have all been shut down at one time or another by Benning at the end of the year.

The Canucks Payroll and their Cap Usage are two different numbers. Not disagreeing with the “savings”, just pointing out another layer.

I would also say that spending less doesn’t equate to saving if you aren’t getting value for the dollars you are spending. Buying a pair of shoes for $100 that are 50% off sounds like a great savings but if they give you blisters every time you wear them is it really a good deal?

Too bad. I’m crossing my fingers that Canuck management can find an unexpected gem or two to make this rebuild go a little faster.

That sportsnet show Tim & Sid pocked the Canucks to grab the last playoff spot in the west leaving Edmonton on the outside.

I would be ok with making playoffs if it meant I could rub it in oiler fans face.

They all really want to make it, I agree. I just dont think there’s muh of a chance considering the other teams vying for the wildcard spots.

the recent "additions by subtraction" that JB has done has really been nice. 6th and 7th rounders may not seem significant, but acquiring those by shedding fat in Nilsson and MDZ are pretty decent rewards for cutting loose bad players. I am hoping he can continue to make these sorts of moves.

One move for another pick in the top 2 rounds, it’s called the 3 year dream. This is the year baby!

You think I like Benning

I am glad every day he stays away from a mic. I am just throwing numbers at you.

Canucks have made improvements this year and have caught up to the middle of the pack. Some people can't handle that.

- VANTEL

That's all we can really expect. 5 spots up this year and shoot for 5 spots up next season and see where it goes. We are not finishing bottom 5 nor is this a PO team. It is what it is.

If the Canucks wanted to trade Tanev, I feel like they would have done it already. Could be wrong, but I have a feeling they like what he brings.

Haven't seen any yet.

To be clear I didn't say I wanted the team to make the playoffs, I think most here agree it would be better if we didn't make the playoffs and managed to grab another pick (hopefully in the top 10) My point was what we the fans want and what the actually players want are two completely different things. But the other teams you speak of are really not much better than us. Colorado, Dallas, Minny, Edmonton, Anaheim have all had their problems and are currently slumping. People keep saying wait till the other teams tighten up and start making their push, well i'm waiting - and i don't see it happening.

I reallly like that new second line. That 3rd line is quite simply devastating
