Well first off no I want to keep him.....secondly there is this process called development....every team in the NHL understands how the process works except one team....so that answers that question

Some hot takes:

1. Matthews needs shoulder surgery. I think it’s pretty obvious he’s playing hurt.

2. Nylander needs to sit out a game.

3. Brown has regressed so badly I don’t think he’d stand out on the Solar Bears.

4. Leafs need truculence.

5. Wtf is Dubas doing?

- mjones242

I don't think these takes are too hot. They seem pretty reasonable.

*Something* is wrong with Matthews

I don't know how anyone can watch the last month or so and think this is just a slump. He isn't playing anywhere near where he was before.

He could be injured? I am starting to wonder about bullpoop between him and Babcock.

I've been the conductor of the trade Brown train for a full calendar year now. Nice finally literally all of you agree now.

Sit Willy for ONE GAME. It's one (frank)ing game. Make him answer question in the media about being more accoutable and having to dig deeper etc. It would send a gigantic message. Athletes respond to these types "kicks in the butt."

Dubas has shown nothing. Except that he's willing to ignore his head coach (who knows eons more about hockey than he ever will) to pursue this fantasy that soft teams can win a cup. He's coming across petty imo.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

You think the Leafs are a (frank) load further ahead than they are.

Don't buy in to the media hype.

See the team.

See the prospects.

Undersrand the process, the cap situation, and the prospects.

Whether or not you.want to believe it, the window doesn't end when Matthews and Marner sign their new deals. The media will have you believe That, but it's simply not true.

The real window opens in 2020-21 (a year earlier if Dubas can find a suitor for Marleau)

1. Is he hurt?

2. What will that do? Seriously. You tell me what that will achieve

3. Yes Brown isn't going to be a 20 goal scorer. There are not many 20 goal scoring 4th ling wingers. If you feel anyone can kill penalties (the same way Burn tried to persuade people while failing) then Yes, do whatever with Brown

4. Possibly, could very well be correct. But it's not a token guy here or there, it has to be en mass.

5. With regards to what?

- walshyleafsfan

1. I think so, yes.

2. It sends a clear message and may light a fire under his butt. Players get benched all of the time (see Radulov, Alex).

3. Brown is currently playing on the 1st (2nd?) line. He’s terrible and there are plenty of better options on the Marlies. Any number of players could kill penalties as effectively as Brown.

4. We agree.

5. With regards to addressing this team’s needs. I’m not privy to what he’s doing behind the scenes but I get to complain about it because the Leafs have been mediocre lately.

Also, my post was only semi-serious. I guess I need to work on my tone?

I don't agree with your opinion on the one game healthy scratch. I think it would have a better chance of weakening the relationship between the player and team. Through personal experience in a few different industries, people tend not to respond well to being publicly ostracized by their superiors, seems only to serve as a deeper wedge.

I also disagree with your kick in the butt theory. I don't imagine they would actually respond well to that type of chastisement, quite the opposite in fact. They would sit in front of the camera and parrot out some mundane answer they've given before, but I don't think there would be any real come to Jesus moment where they understand their flaws and the avenues to correct them by sitting out.

1. He might be. Let's ask him to be an anomaly and ask to sit a game. Should go well when facing the opposition. Unless you feel management should proactively ask Matthews to not play.

2. Sitting Nylander and, presumably bringing in Moore for a game will not make William feel like he's in danger of being paid an astronomical amount to ride the bus to Cleveland for the rest t of his career. Other than that l, I honestly don't know what to say.

3.. Brown is on the 4th line.

4. Can't remember what we are talking about

5. Absolutely. But honestly, suggesting this team should do a 180 just isn't gonna happen. It's just not.

Like i mean c'mon fellas, let's take some responsibility for acting all Johnny Big Bollocks, while icing a d crops of Rielly, Hainsey, Gardiner, Zaitsev, Dermott and Ozighanov.

The Leafs are kinda where they should be. Whatever we've told our friends is down to us.

Leafs finished 30th in 2015-16. I hope you didn't promise a Cup in 2018-19

You think William will think his position in the top 6 or 9 is up for grabs?

If so, we should've done this with Jake over 5 years ago

1. I’m not suggesting Matthews should sit. I’m merely suggesting, through observation and a gut feeling, that he’s hurt.

Can you explain his recent listless play?

2. Radulov accepted being benched and understood why it happened. I suspect Nylander would understand too.

It’s one game. It’s a frequently used tactic. I’m not understanding the pushback here.

3. Brown had serveral shifts with Matthews. Brown should never have shifts with Matthews. Brown isn’t good enough to be on the 4th line.

Shall I go on?

4. Unsurprised.

5. I never suggested a 180 was necessary. I’m sure Dubas is working the lines. I hope he’s working the lines.

And that's fine, and to be fair they probably should be on occasions. As they stand, they are 1 position higher than I thought they would be in the division by the end of the season.

But some of the takes are just awful. Sit Matthews, sit Nylander, bring in Ferlabd (just one bloke mind you, trade for players with term (what happen next year? It doesn't matter what happens next year).

Look, end of the day, if we just reeled ourdelveso and see the club for what it is worth we would've m a) saved face somewhat; b) been more patient with young players (we've forgotten they're young) and c) not wanted to fire our GM, our coach, trade all d not named Rielly and punished or traded every forward not name 2nd Matthews/Marner.

For the record,I'm 100% in favour of walking away from Gardiner the hemis deal is up.

1. I honeslty don't know. Haven't heared either way

2. Do you.think sitting Nylander will spark him into hitting the method his chances? Do you think sitting him will make him think, (frank), now I know what they want from me?

3. Babcock seems tonne trying every thing to get Auston going. Sans a line of Matthews, Marner, Tavares. He's played with Kadri, Johnsson, Kapanen, Hyman, Marleau and Brown at times. Not sure about Lindholm and Gauthier.

Yes

4. Sorry again forgot

5 . This is the way they're gonna try and win a Cup. Won or fail. It'll be all offense woth cheapish D

Santo will be utterly shocked and completely disagree.

1. Alright, we’ll call it a draw!

2. Maybe?

3. How about trying Moore and sitting Brown?

4. So you keep saying. Lulz!

5. I think they match up favourably against Tampa. I think the Pastrnaks tool them.

I hope this changes but I also hope they don’t give up significant picks for truculent rentals like Simmonds and Ferland.
