genuinely (not trolling at all) thought that both Lindholm and Hannifin have/had pretty high ceilings... didn't think that Hamilton would add as much to Carolina, where they already head a couple of guys on the right side.
just my opinion. - BorjeFan4Ever
Lindholm having the season he has has veen a surprise for sure, but Hanifin is a hardcore MAGA chud and since Dougie's gotten healthy again he's been fantastic. Big part of why they just went on that run where they won 7 of 8.
They still wanted to try and sign Ferland, but he's apparently looking to sign the same contract Lucic got, so instead they went and got Nino, who isn't as mean but is probably more talented than Ferland and is under contract. At the same time, they dump a $4 million 4C/healthy scratch and are still trying to add a forward with their glut of defensemen. |

That's what confused me the most. Why trade a young LHD with a high ceiling for a RHD when you already have Faulk and Pesce on the right side?
Odd.
And now Dougie is on the 3rd pairing and word on the street is the Canes are open to dealing him. - mjones242
He's on the "3rd pairing" but is 3rd among D in ice time, all while getting limited PP time.
Canes are looking to deal whatever defenseman not named Slavin that gets them the best forward possible, whether as part of a package or whatever.
Prefence would be to trade Faulk, but that's been the preference for about a year now.
Oh and you get Adam Fox in the deal too, with young LHD in Jake Bean and Haydn Fleury still in your system, so that's why it's okay to trade Hanifin. |

the Canes use 4 D at 5v5 pretty evenly, around 1 min separation per game
Slavin
Dehaan
Faulk
Hamilton
PP they use 3
Faulk (3 min a game)
Hamilton (2min)
Slavin (2min)
Its mostly the PK where Hamilton gets no time that makes up the ice time different.
but from what I can tell at 5v5 the ice time is pretty spread out. thats not looking at the zone starts and who is playing who

The other thing is they almost exclisively use TVR with Hamilton because Dougie is so good at getting the puck out and TVR is playing his off side. |

So what is it about Buffalo that has had two players come out in the last two years and claim that they've lost their love of the game? |

No Bingo.
It is NEVER okay to trade Noah Hanifin.
NEVER.
The guy is looking pretty god damn amazing in Calgary right now.
Imagine once he gets the powerplay time when Giordano dies of old age. |

He's averaging 1 second more total ice-time than Pesce and only 7 seconds more than de Haan.
Hamilton also has the 2nd most PP ice-time on the Hurricanes D behind Faulk and is 4th in 5v5 mins. On the latter point, he's only ahead of Pesce because Pesce plays a significant amount of time on the PK.
I hear you that the Canes are looking at moving a D-man and that Faulk has been a target for some time but let's not pretend that Hamilton hasn't been a major disappointment. |

I feel like there's an important distinction there. |

He hasn't been, and the Hurricanes are 13th in the league in goals against per game despite having bottom tier goaltending, but hey if you wanna claim that it's the defense that's disappointing, go for it.

On goal. I dunno where to find individual game shot attempts.
He's on pace for about the same amount of individual offense as last year though. The only difference is that his teammates are scoring. |

The only thing I'm claiming is that Hanifin for Hamilton was an odd trade for a team that already had two decent RHD. Perhaps they were hoping to move Faulk or Pesce at some point? Who knows?
Having said that, I'd certainly rather have Hanifin if were the Canes. I kind of feel they rushed him a bit.
Suffice it to say, I'd be happy with any one of the Canes RHD on the Leafs. |

When I look at the 2 and all the fancy stats, there is no doubt DH is having the better season overall.
He has has some terrible on ice luck so far, that can turn around in a hurry. |
