Watching that game last night - specifically the Lightning PP - reinforced not only the need for a RD, but one that can bomb the puck from the point.
Opposing PK are able to collapse on the back door/cross ice pass too easily because there is no respect for the Leafs current D to get a dangerous shot on net and don't have to account for that at all and probably prefer to give them that shot. In fact, too often the D find shin pads let alone a dangerous scoring opportunity.
Parayko checks that box for me, and man did he look good paired with Rielly for a short time on Team North America before injury.
P & P: Parayko and Pysyk at the deadline. - Deeps27
couldn't agree more.
Leafs - if they are trying to acquire a RHD should spend for a guy like Paryako, rather spends "a little less" and get another middling guy. Paryako should be the first choice, combination of age, contract and capabilities. After him there are a couple of others Hamilton, Pesce who should (my opinion) cost a little less.

not so much a problem of their d-corps... their goaltending was really sub-par at the outset of the season, and their forwards are pretty slow, Tatasenko not scoring per previous seasons.

Hockey Gods weighed in...Vasilevskiy stole the last one in Tampa, Andersen the difference in this one. His side-to-side anticipation was spot on. Great game. - Deeps27
Anderson's positioning and puck tracking was 100% spot on last night.
The chances were pretty even and that third Leafs goal was the killer - Vasi would love to have that one play out differently. But, it really wasn't his fault.
And Kucherov was held mostly in check, which was frustrating the heck out of him. He's been quiet the last couple of games and his frustration is building. I feel very sorry for the team on the receiving end of his inevitable resumption of burying shots - he is due to break out and go nuts again.
These games are entertaining as hell and have a rivalry feel to them, but it's mostly a clean rivalry built out of mutual respect and hometown ties. Stamkos and Tavares are friends. I don't see much dirtiness or nastiness like you would see if Boston or Philly was involved. I like that. It's fun to watch (even though the Bolts lost last night).
I don't feel robbed of three hours after watching that game. |

You're just sad because you damn well know a guy like Weber is exactly the piece you guys would need to be considered cup favorites. |

where does Marner fit .. Mathews ahead of him, Nylander, Hyman, Connor brown
I think they should trade him. - Kyper
Marner was in a 2 goals in 20+ games slimp...just like Nylander, and Willie will come out of it just fine also

Don't hate the player, hate the contract. Weber would be a more than welcome add to the Leafs blue line with reasonable term left on his contract. Notice it hasn't taken him 20 games to get up to speed after missing the start of the season like Slick Willy? Just saying...don't let Hab hate cloud logic. |

I love the player so much, I don't care about his contract.
He'll be our Chara in 8 years.... or retire before then.... destroying Nashville's cap space.... |

Agreed. The only (reasonable) argument against Weber is the contract. |
