Again, JB doesn't strike me as someone who wants to trade away all his mid-round picks.
- Lunaion

Idk how you can say that when that's consistently what he's done. He trades 3rds and 4ths and the occasional 2nd for useful players, and keeps 1sts.

Sheary
Pominville
Scandella
Hunwick
Skinner
Beaulieu

All of these players were acquired through mid-round draft murrancy

It's easy to suggest he has a limit.

I've said it before, and i'm going to stick to it...I cannot understand the hate directed at Scandella...I see a lot of it on twitter and it seems to snowball...he ain't great, but he's better than both beaulieu and hunwick, as well as nelson at this juncture, imo
- Michael Pachla

Because he’s been terrible?

And I was a fan of adding him when he got here.

We don't have a 3rd and 6th next year. We might have 2 first next year depending on St. Louis... Tyler Fedun plays one more game for Dallas we get a 7th. 24g 2g 4a 6p even rating

There is not much you can do with Beaulieu. He has no real value. Maybe a 3rd but in the grand scheme of things its not really going to make a difference

You forgot one thing; that Scandella should be pushed down the depth chart below Beaulieu. He is the one that should be sitting on a more consistent basis. This is on Housley not Sitting that piece of garbage scandella
- icemen

Agreed. Phil isn’t capable of making the tough decision and bumping down the “popular guy in the dressing room” regardless of his shabby play in his own end.

The smart move is to be sellers at the deadline (cuz this team ain’t that good), dangle the Beaulieu AND Scandella (not sure if he has a no\limited move clause) and get back a serviceable piece or more picks. EVERYONE wants D men at the deadline.

I wouldn't say he has no value. Not used much this year and last year was just a bad team all around. Two years prior to us getting him he had 4g 28a in 74gp and 2g 16a in 64gp. Still an RFA and teams are always adding depth dmen for the playoffs.

Blow-you leaving the Sabres whether it be through a trade, waivers or a bus ticket back home is a positive thing. Hopefully Botts can get a 4th or 5th for him or a solid AHLer who will help the Amerks out. Blow-you blew from day one. Good riddance.

The interesting thing is that Sabres management might be able to learn from this situation. Maybe they could sit Okposo for a while and he will asked to leave the organization as well? So far sitting guys has worked wonderfully (twice) for the Sabres - Berglund and Blow-you. Do it Housley!

- SabreWest

Between Bergey and now the Beaulieu wanting out the organization won’t risk pissing off someone else. Bad business.

Sure seems like the Canes win that trade. They did add $1.25 in cap for next 3 years, but I think they got the better player too.

Was burying Moulson bad business, guys are just pouting because they aren't in the lineup. I don't think it has an effect on the appearance of the organization one way or the other

He only has 5 more points than Okposo, granted he is younger but he has only hit 50 points once in his career

Niederreiter is 4 years younger and is a much better player than Okposo.

Trade bogo to oilers while his value is high. Just keep bowl-u, we wouldn’t get much fir him anyway. Find a D to take that spot next year if he isn’t in our organization already

The Athletic says Brassard has an 8-team list in his NMC. Winnipeg being one he has on the list. Any word if we are on his list?

LeBrun:
"Brassard, it should be noted, has eight teams listed in his modified no-trade clause. Not sure if Winnipeg is on that list or not but I’m told by a source that he would be OK with Winnipeg, just as he would have been a year ago had things worked out with that trade instead."

I was also a fan of adding him when we got him, but that was a different time, long ago, before Botts revamped the D, drafted Dahlin, signed Pilut, BoGo got healthy, etc. We needed the depth desperately then.

I would like to see GMJB take a swing here and package Beaulieu AND Scandella up for a pick and a solid D prospect, or a legit NHL 3C, or a solid 1C/2C prospect.

It is sink or swim time and they can hang and make the playoffs - question is, will Skinner stay so that you can comfortably make the move to buy?

Interesting stat IMO

Since 2016-17 (last 2 1/2 years) at 5 on 5

Goals

Risto 10
McCabe - 6

Primary assists

Ristolainen- 15
McCabe 14

Total points

Ristolainen - 44
McCabe - 34

Not that big of a difference, until you see the minutes played in that span

Risto - 3727
McCabe 2804

900 more minutes and just 10 more 5 on 5 points

With Dahlin and Pilut, I’m not sure Risto is even the third best offensive D man we have.

Regardless of opinion on him. We should sell high

I am not opposed to trading Risto, but I would want a very nice piece in return. To me though, what your stats show is that GMs should be very interested in McCabe, who I think is easier to part with. I admit I am partial to Risto. I really enjoy watching him play

If we could get a draisitl type player for Risto (maybe +) I think i could live with moving on from Risto.

He is great when he is on his game and not being overworked by the coaching staff
