It was about him finally being comfortable after 15 months with the Sens and scoring.

Ok so if we apply the 15 month Brassard to get comfy with new team rule, then we should get great hockey out of him around May this year....

In Ek's current main/1st story he has the Pens with 4.6 mill in cap space....is that true?

Yes. Schultz' LTIR cap space went a long way.

Wow, 4.6 is considerable space.

Thing is I’m pretty sure that if we use that space Schultz can’t come back until the playoffs start and the cap disappears.

Yeah I was gonna say something along the lines of that. Ive never had a firm grasp on LTIR and cap space.

Interesting to see if this effects player usage in game.

News: NHL is giving its coaches an iPad app that will deliver real-time stats during games and, eventually, real-time player and puck tracking data.

Ok, I think I've only done this once before and at other times I don't say anything, but here goes...

I have a friend who knows someone who works fairly high up in the Pens org. I'd say once or twice a year he'll let me in on some insider stuff, but I don't mention it because you'd be surprised how even amongst the office people in the org like to play the game of telephone with information. Basically, someone gets wind of an idea that gets discussed and it turns into "talks are happening."

Take this with a grain of salt, but he's told me the Pens are trying to find a way to deal with the Kings. That doesn't necessarily mean they are in talks, but it sounds like the Pens want to see what is possible there. I know that's super vague and he didn't mention specific players. He said the big issue right now is cap space. That even though they have a chunk for this season, they want to bring in someone with term and that's what they're trying to maneuver around.

Again, I'm NOT trying to act like I have hardcore info, but it's just something I found interesting that he told me.

I think it was smart move actually. They needed a 3C and Nino was having a slow year.

The Hurricanes were about 3 days away from waiving Victor Rask.
