Martin St Louis bro. PPG player until he was 37. Two seasons over 90 points as a 35 and 36 year old. 52 points his 39 year.

I think you see Kane take that type of career arc. Kane is a similar player with more talent and feeding a guy like Strome or DeBrincat the next 5 years will be fun to watch even if the rest of the team sucks.

Move existing veterans. Kruger, AA and Keith at the TDL. Move Gus for a first or second to throw a wrench in the PP. Throw Crow on LTIR and take some junk for futures. Start Ward in 20 of the last 35 games and that should be enough to finish at or close to the bottom and get a top 2 pick.

Now they have money to spend if they want and assets to move for a defender who isnt 18. Suck for one more year. Turn the corner the next. Then hopefully back in the mix.

Idk if you have seen the movie, Kings of Summer. Nick Offerman is really funny in that movie. His wife is in it too. She's really weird though. It's a different movie, but a good watch.

Would Keith waive his NMC to got to Toronto for Gardiner and Kapanen? Might be a good move as Toronto is calling for Gardiner's head.

Taking on bad contracts for 1st's aren't really in Stan's nature and tells others of rebuilding. Wrong image he's "trying" to sell. I haven't been against his recent trades, so I'll assume he stays that path. I know he knows he's a seller, but maybe more Hartman like deals come up (and pan out.)

I wouldn’t say taking on bad contracts isn’t in his wheel house I believe this is one of he first times he will be able to

For those who haven't read the full article with the proposed Kane trade to the Avs:

https://www.the-rink.com/...e-trade-for-patrick-kane/

On Barrie, just a few tidbits that y'all can intepret as pros and cons however you wish:

- His current AAV is $5.5M for this year and next.
- He's an offensive defenseman who is a solid PP quarterback, arguably one of the best in the game.
- In terms of offense and PP contributions, Gustafsson's comparable is a player like Barrie.
- While he isn't stellar on defense, not sure if Barrie is Gustafsson bad in his end.
- Barrie does bring quite a bit of on-ice value to a team so he would be easy to flip in a trade for good assets whether prospects and/or draft picks or even a hockey trade of player for player.

Have not, will check it out. He's got a small, but funny, part in "The Little Hours" on Netflix. Funny little movie with Dave Franco and Audrey Plaza (Parks and Rec).

If the Hawks are fortunate enough to get the #1 pick in the draft - maybe they should check with Vancouver to see if they want to (kinda) repeat the "Sedin thing" with the Hughes brothers. Howza bout the #1 pick (Hughes) and our 2nd round pick for Elias Pettersson and their 1st round pick?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they have to move Kane or that he won't still be a useful player. I'm just saying I don't think you typically plan long term around guys who are past 30. Tampa won the cup in 2004 when St Louis was 28 and didn't get back to that level until after they moved him and he was a 39 year old player for the Rangers.

I think if they can rebuild quickly, you can build around Kane's offense. Long term, you gotta consider that you will end up passing the torch to the next generation and Kane might be more of a complimentary player rather than they guy you lean on.

Look at the standings....The hawks are 1 point from worst in the NHL, but still ONLY 8 points from a playoff spot. The difference between winning and losing in the NHL is so small on a nightly basis (usually), that adding 2-3 difference makers/upgrades on the roster can transform you from Lottery Team to playoff bubble team essentially overnight. With the right moves the next 8 months, they could be a bubble team next year if not sneak into a wild card spot.

No line rushes at the optional skate, but here's what we know:
-- Delia starts
-- Koekkoek sits (back to 6D)
-- Pairings in flux
-- Saad-Toews-DeBrincat
-- Caggiula-Strome-Kane

I'm on record saying that we should not sweat the lineups and changes for the rest of the year, but I'm interested to see how those top two lines work out.

- Chunk

Actually interested to see Caggiula on that Kane-Strome line. He has some skill and I love the comparison that our friend Al Cimaglia used the other night saying Caggiula has a little Kris Versteeg in him.

I get concerned when comparable is "almost" as good as a former player who StanBo thought we were better off without...

I didn’t even bother to read it. Kane is probably the the one player that’s off limits. Outside of an offer that’s just too good to be true!

I'm a no on the proposed Kane trade to the Avs but could be swayed to yes if the proposal was amped up more on Colorado's end. The assets coming to Chicago would need to be near bulletproof to be NHL contributors, prospects who fill current needs, and/or current roster players who have value if flipped later.

For the proposed trade, I don't see why the Hawks would add more to the D prospect pool so why not seek one of the Avs top forward prospects instead like Martin Kaut or Shane Bowers. Maybe even current roster player Tyson Jost.

Right now the structure of that proposed trade is 3 for 3:

Kane for 2019 1st
Gustafsson for Barrie
2019 4th for Makar

So I would also think there needs to be more quantity of assets on Colorado's end by adding another high draft pick and/or another high end prospect given that Kane is still one of the top players in the league and no signs of slowing down. If anything, getting better as he enters his 30's.

You mean Three 1sts, 15.0M USD and a bucket of other crud would not do it?

I agree. The difference between winning and losing can be minor. There are probably 10-15 plays this season where the Hawks screwed up that could be the difference between where they are right now and being in the race for a wild card spot. Probably swept out of the playoffs, but they could have been in the running.

I hope they can pull off some good moves to get competitive again. Stan could really win the fans back if he pulls off a few more decent trades.

I didn’t look at what they proposed, I wasn’t even aware the Avs had three first round picks. I would however be totally fine with it if the Blackhawks got the bucket of crud and the 15M USD went to me.

They gotta play him if they wanna trade him. Buckle up, the clearance rack is going to be displayed front and center up to the TDL.
