In this case, I think his consistently sub-average PDO should be more of a sign that he's doing something wrong or that his line doesn't score well along with his goalies being bad. However, since the goalies are the same for the rest of the team, then that sub-average sv% should be consistent unless either a.) Simmonds is a detriment to his team defensively at 5-on-5 or b.) his linemates are dragging him down defensively. Given the variety of linemates, we have samples to determine which is true.

The consistency in which he's outscored or negatively impacts linemates GF is a big factor for me. I'm away from home so I can't dive too heavily into this, but another time.

Just one thought on what I think you're trying to get at though. It seems to be that you are questioning his contributions defensively 5v5, correct? So you are in doubt over his abilities defensively I presume. If so, I challenge that notion with the fact that historically, Simmonds has been a notable PK defender and has excelled in such a role. So, defensive ability may not be the issue here.

The article mentioned below digs into his PK stats halfway through last season, all displaying really good numbers. So, once again, defensive ability may not be the issue here. He is compared to Eller, Smith, Backlund, Trocheck (all notable 2-way players), and stands his ground in specific metrics (CA/SCA60: 41.09 [1st among forwards] GA/xGA60: 4.68 [14th among forwards] midway through the last season).

No need to respond now. But I'll be waiting for an eventual reply.

I just like busting your balls sir. I'm expecting the exact same treatment if Nurse doesn't hit 40 this year.
- Wildschwein

It's all good. Tis all in good faith, I presume.

As for Nurse, he is on track for 40 this year, so looks like you will be right atm.

But of course.

Yeah Nurse is on track, but I'm worried that his PP time is gonna take a big dip when Klefbom comes back.

Friedman had this to say recently

“The Oilers will also scour the market for young, preferably quick attackers who are either on long-term deals or have time before unrestricted free agency. Their first-round pick is definitely in play. Jesse Puljujarvi? As Tuesday developed, there was pushback on his availability. There are some in the organization who want to win now and recognize he has value in the market; there are others who see a player needing patience to develop.“

Sounds like Puju might not be as available as first reported but we shall see

Yeah my heart isn’t exactly breaking over the World Cup....less chance of McDavid or Drai getting hurt over meaningless hockey

Stauffer looks like he is trolling with this quote

“Hard to believe...but Milan Lucic (3) has scored more goals in the month of January than Auston Matthews (1) and Patrik Laine (1) combined!😉”

There's a substantial difference between defending at 5-on-5 vs on the PK. The skillsets are not always transferable (see: Petrovic, Alex) for such an example.
