I was looking at the standings and the Flyers looked to be in good position for the playoffs. then I noticed it was upside down.

Looking at the standings, there still are some teams that I see that will drop in the standings. I honestly believe the Flyers have too much talent to finish bottom 3, just in the Eastern Conference.

Not a fan for tanking at all but that is different than hoping they lose.

I don't think people understand a bad season verse a losing culture. This season however it ends, dead last or 10th worst in the league will not define the guys in our locker room nor will it cripple the development of the young guys. A losing culture would be the Edmonton Oilers of years past where they continue to pick at the top and nothing ever go right, no one enjoys playing, guys don't reach their potential. Taylor Hall leaves and ha s a career year, wins MVP.

Haven't won a playoff series since 2012. Core is on their 4th coach and 3rd gm. If this isn't a losing culture I don't know what is.

Umm are we tanking right now? No, but we are second to last in the entire NHL....Obviously it would be disappointing finishing 1-2 worst and missing the top 2 picks but this is the reality we are in.
- ClaudeFather

Correct

I'll just come right out and say it - those chanting "lose for Hughes" and the like are being moronic.*

Exactly. They might turn out to be the worst team in the league on merit. We have no nhl quality forwards in the ahl. When Simmonds and raffl get moved. It will get that much uglier. So when they lose...on merit, it’s ok to be excited about what that means. We don’t have to go crying into our flyers beanies

The reality is the Flyers are missing the playoffs and have a chance for 1 or 2 just like everyone else who misses the playoffs, but the reality is for every Toronto or Buffalo that finishes last and gets the number 1 pick there is a Colorado, Philadelphia or Buffalo that doesn't get the number 1 pick for being dead last.

Colorado finished dead last 2 years ago by a whopping 21 points and didn't even pick in the top 3, tell me about those odds.

Totally hear you, I do not want them to lose but I've thought this was going to turn around for quite some time. We are at a point where we will be selling (according to Ek buyers), can't see that having a great impact in the locker room, tough to see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Odds are when a team finishes dead last...they won’t be picking in the top 3

They had a significantly better chance at #1, key word, it's a chance.

You know what I want more than getting an additional 1% of odds...the Flyers to get another 1st rounder from a non-playoff team.

Yes they do. Vorobyev and Aube-Kubel could be playing for the Flyers right now.

Use the ELC contract money to continue schooling....

Like I said the same options that are available staying in school are still there leaving to turn pro, vice versus is not.

- Glak18

What ELC money? Most a NHL's players money goes towards Escrow, taxes and expenses. Why do think most ELC guys live with established players? If the guy is crippled in year 1, he isnt getting ELC cash either. He gets what he has earned so far and that is it. It is also hard to go to school when you cant walk or have serious concussion issues. A guy like Pronger cant even drive anymore because of concussions. I doubt he can even stare at a computer screen.

Yes. Well that seems difficult. Oilers would seem like an opportunity to get a top 10 protected pick

I don’t know what NAK has done or shown to earn that distinction. Vorobyev for that matter. Not saying they shouldn’t be the ones called up.

Facts: You can only find good players in the top 5 picks of every draft.

Picks 6-217 can never be good players.

Anyone see TSNs prospect list? They have NYRs Vitali Kravtsov at the top. Did he have an outstanding WJC? Didn't hear much about him recently and then i see this list with him as #1.

Give me a break. Most NHL players are multi millionaires. Those that aren't are making hundreds of thousands a year to play hockey. They can afford to take classes in the summer time to work towards a degree.
