I didn't compare them to each other. I merely suggested that neither has made an "instant impact" for their respective teams. - Scoob
Nico was their 2nd leading scorer last year when they made the playoffs.
Nolan was the Flyers 9th leading scorer. |

I have seen the future guys....
The Flyers are picking 31st this draft because they go on a run, make the playoffs, and win the Stanley Cup. And guess who scores the game winner?
Dale freaking Weise with the assists going to MacDonald and Varone.
Neuvirth wins the Conn Smyth.
It's going to be amazing. |

What ELC money? Most a NHL's players money goes towards Escrow, taxes and expenses. Why do think most ELC guys live with established players? If the guy is crippled in year 1, he isnt getting ELC cash either. He gets what he has earned so far and that is it. It is also hard to go to school when you cant walk or have serious concussion issues. A guy like Pronger cant even drive anymore because of concussions. I doubt he can even stare at a computer screen. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yes, let's go to the most extremes possible. What happens when that same exact injury happens when they are in school? You do realize no play means no scholarship. Do you think a college athlete gets to finish degree if they get injured, well yeah if they pay tuition.
What happens when ANY single person gets injured so bad they can never work again, what do they do? Exactly what does that mean, what you are saying has absolute no barring on the conversation.
"Why do think most ELC guys live with established players?"
Yes, yes yes...all players on ELC are totally broke, all money is gone and that's why they live with established players. Definitely not because most are extremely young, away from home, new to the area and could use mentoring or help adjust to the life of a professional athlete....definitely because they have no money, that's it.
I'm assuming you picked one thing that was mentioned, grabbed onto it and thought of the most extreme scenario then cranked it up a notch. Yes, I mentioned injuries, not life threatening situations that could happen. Injuries happen all the time, but they also factor into, as well as performance and progression, whether a team ends up signing them to a pro contract.
Now Pascal Laberge, if he was committed to an NCAA school and had the same injury history he has now...don't you think the chances of him receiving an ELC from the Flyers would be lower now? |

I'm sorry for your pain, on the bright side maybe he will play tonight and score a hat trick!
Edit: He won't be playing tonight, bright side gone. |

They were drafted 1 and 2 overall, will be forever connected. As meaningless as that is, it has meaning. - ClaudeFather
of course but the Flyers picked 2nd so its not like the Flyers had a say in who they ended with between the two and this is in no way saying I don't think Patrick can still end up being the better player |

Is RNH that horrible that he could not be our 3c?
Just curious. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.
For Sanheim, or Ghost? |

Right or wrong, good or bad, being drafted number 1 and 2 often does that. |

Has anyone called RNH horrible? Solid two-way player, no question 1C or 2C on the Flyers. |

From past experience here I thought the consensus was he was a disappointment.
EDIT: that might never live up to his no 1 pick status.
Speaking of which, Patrick could very well be a great all-around player like BrindAmour or Primeau. So he is not bust yet either. |

Honestly, it's probably more about now they're 19-20 and they have a lot of money relatively speaking. Sometimes a dangerous cocktail. |
