I may be late but Weise staying with the Flyers. I guess Chuck was just seeing if someone would pick him up for nothing......

Well, don't forget how Fletcher's language was...."Status quo for now."

I don’t know what NAK has done or shown to earn that distinction.

Played very well and produced points at 5on5, which is where he would play for the Flyers since they already have 10+ PP guys.

But why give young guys with plenty of AHL experience a chance to play at the next level when you can send soon to be ex-NHLers like Lehtera and Varone to take up space on the ice.

Eh, Weise has been waived already once this year. He's probably used to it.

Plus, I'm sure those checks are still clearing.

Facts: You can only find good players in the top 5 picks of every draft.

Picks 6-217 can never be good players.

Also, the #1 pick always meets or exceeds expectations

they are putting Jake at the point on the PP to raise his defensive awareness.

I get it but how often do non top 5 picks make instant nhl impacts their rookie year ? Kakko and Hughes are the only guys even in the top 5 I see as making immediate NHL impacts.

Yes they do. Vorobyev and Aube-Kubel could be playing for the Flyers right now.

They were, they aren’t anymore.

Interesting quotes from backes who is having problems staying in the lineup. Talking about the speed of the young players and the game today

I was looking at the standings and the Flyers looked to be in good position for the playoffs. then I noticed it was upside down.

Looking at the standings, there still are some teams that I see that will drop in the standings. I honestly believe the Flyers have too much talent to finish bottom 3, just in the Eastern Conference.

Not a fan for tanking at all but that is different than hoping they lose.

Lose Flyers lose

- wcorvette

I cannot watch the Flyers and hope for them to lose. I just can't. And esp with Hart in goal. I want him to get shutout wins every game.

I just hope that the other teams around us keep winning

One could argue that the #1 and #2 2017 draft picks haven't made much of an impact thus far. Nobody could argue that the #5 guy isn't making an impact, though.

yes...it’s interesting if they score a ppg or are having a mad scramble to save Hart from 2-0s

It does us no favors to compare Nico's impact to Nolan's. He has close to twice as many points as Patrick does so far. But the Devils roster is a talent wasteland.

Few years down the road I'll guarantee you'll be singing a different tune about #1 & #2, Hischier had a very solid rookie year as well.

And how about the other 9 drafts in the past 10 years? 1 and 2 were also immediate NHL players 1 specifically playing a top 6 role their first year. It's not always true true that 1 and 2 become the best players but in draft years especially like this one the talent level drops off significantly. And the predictions on someone not being a superstar are often more right than wrong.

You said "instant impact" and I'm pointing out that sometimes even the #1 and #2 picks don't do that.

I WANT Hughes...but I have never asked for losing.
- Glak18

This is key. I don’t mind all the talk about Hughes or “name the prospect” as it’s interesting. And everyone can have a favorite and someone they want. There is a lot of reasons things don’t always turn out the way you’d expect. Injuries, performance, outside issues, scheduling, trades etc. Losing isn’t good...bottom line.

They were drafted 1 and 2 overall, will be forever connected. As meaningless as that is, it has meaning.

I didn't compare them to each other. I merely suggested that neither has made an "instant impact" for their respective teams.
