I do think its actually counterproductive for the Habs to be this high this year. It will just make the rebuild that much longer IMO. Good for the fans to be able to enjoy it though.

Part of the fanbase does feel that way.

At the same time, people are pretty excited about how our prospects are going... Poehling, Romanov, Primeau, Suzuki, Josh Brooks.... all guys to be excited about and could help our in the next 2-3 years.

It's been quite the turnaround in a short time but we still need to look to the future and not the present. Hopefully Bergevin doesn't lose sight of this.

Finally came to admit that his team was too high in the standings considering their goal differential and it's now been corrected?

For sure, well see how they turn out. I just think they would benefit from a couple more low finishes, but they have some potential there for sure.

And the Leafs/Oilers the year before.

Year 1 is easy. Gets harder when teams take you a bit more seriously.

To be fair I could see a Boston retool in the Habs future. You have some promising kids coming up and some picks remaining.

Here's where I have an issue with that strategy for the Habs though. You don't have a good veteran center like Bergy or Krejci now to help those kids along and I don't see a Pasta in your cupboards. We'll see, I'm just not sure they have the existing pieces to inject youth in other areas to turn it around on the fly.

Morning, fellas.

There's a fluff piece on Morgan Rielly in the Atlantic - "a week in the life."

It's pretty "meh" - but check out the picture of him playing soccer.

Holy frank, look at those quads.

Chara helps... a lot. The only comparable the Habs have to Chara is.... ?

I'm hoping you would know?? Victor Mete?

I agree we don't have a center like Bergy to turn things around as fast as you guys did.

But we do have a Weber and Price in there for veteran presence. Gallagher is also a solid guy to build around.

We also have alot of very strong centre prospects for the next few years... Obviously it's too soon to say one of them will be a Pastrnak... but there is cause for Optimism.

Kotkaniemi will be something else at some point... kid is great.

Last time he wrote something good about the Habs, he told us DeLaRose was a steal at the draft, Collberg would be a star and Scherbak was the next Selanne.

I've got an amazing idea: move Habs prospects and future team projections commentary to a Habs thread!

Hold on here...I said De La Rose would be an NHL player, Collberg a star and Scherbak a bust. I'm an idiot, but give me my idiot credit where it counts.

Fine, let's go back to the current Leafs discussions, make your pick:

1: How bad is Jake Gardiner?
2: How Zaitsev makes him even worse?
3: Why is Nylander such a wussy?
4: UG's 5 year plan.
5: Sandin and Lilybust better be good because there is no money left.

I wish I was making those up but they're all from you guys.
