Devils had one prospect in top 50. And Ty Smith came in at 35. 35 yikes!. He will be a good player but not a franchise savior. Poor drafti g has not helped this franchise.

I think it has improved the last 2 years since the Zacha and McLeod draft. They found some nice players in the later rounds. 6th round for some reason looks like their sweet spot. Nico and Ty Smith back to back years are nice first round picks. I know it would be hard to give them credit for Nico but they could've easily gone with Patrick who hasn't been an impact player, 4 point night against the Wild excluded.
