Regarding JvR, glad to see him coming around and scoring but let's not look too much into the "pep talk." Communication between coach and player is always good, but JvR is now on top PP unit and top line with G. He'll get his chances. He needs to keep burying them.

Nice to see a flash from Patrick. Kid will be fine. Hopefully he builds off of this performance. Loved the way Hart battled.

I didn't mind the 5 forward PP but would love to have a big shot dman back there. Ghost was effective when the puck got through AND on net. JvR's first goal happened because Jake got puck through. Scary to think of all the shorties they may let up but honestly, having Ghost as your only dman, isn't much of a difference. They'll get torched an equal amount of time.

We lost and I broke my stick, hope that is not needed for the Flyers to win.

Does it scare you as much as Scott Laughton scares me?

He looks like he's trying to look tough but it's not working.

Nice hat, though

It's heart medication time when that group is out there. You know the inevitable is going to occur with it soon. Jake or Coots turnover, no back check, short handed goal against. The question is how many times will it happen before the staff decides it's not worth it.

189.00 ugh. Great marketing by stick makers, we actually pay that amount.

On the bright side last week won the championship for our league. Losing this week not so bad. Plus the tailgate, food, beer etc was really good after

Not me, any more. A couple years ago I switched to a composite shaft with replaceable blades. Much more economical.

All we are saying is that they had a talk, Gordon made some good points, JVR applied it to his game and was productive. Doesn't mean he is going to be the best player every game. He was in a funk and got some help from his coach. Sometimes when a player is struggling it's tough to see the issue. Regarding Hak and JVR, don't think it's applicable, played two games, missed a bunch, then was trying to get back up to speed (probably still was when Gordon took over).
- ClaudeFather

Yea, again, I got that part. Question for you, during the 8 game losing streak, do you think Gordon was talking to other players? Talking to Gostisbehere, Patrick and other players who have been struggling. Did Gordon have a magical talk with Patrick and that's why he scored twice? Coaches coach and players have to respond. They don't always respond.

Yes and no. You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink it... sure I'll agree to that. But if you dont lead the horse to water, the horse may never find the water and cant drink again... or maybe he might just wander around until he finds water.... In other words, even pro's need to be coached, and just like in real life sometimes it matters whos saying the words.
- youarewrong

There is no yes and no. There is no way around it. It's ultimately up to the player to respond. If what you're saying was true, then great coaches like Quenneville, Hitchcock, etc would never get fired. Do they stop leading the horse to water?

Giroux can play any forward position. Lets not forget he was drafted as a right wing. Might it take a little time to adjust, maybe.
- youarewrong

Doesn't change the fact that in that spot on the PP, being a RH shot, he has a tougher angle to the net and to the open ice.

Correct, they don't always respond. In this instance he did and the coach helped him. End of story. No one said he works magic. In this instance it worked, as noted by Bill and the player himself.

incase you missed it Shawny Hill is suspended from doing the Flyers because of an incodent during the wings game.

Shawny said "Let's snip the ponytail." Which IMO is not racist or racially motivated... Just sounds like he is messing with a member of the opposite team...

However the crowd started chanting "Scalp him"... that is racist, but I dont think it was Shawny's intention for that to happen.

I hope he gets his job back. This kind of thing is happening too frequently. Can we just only fire people that are intentionally racist, sexist, etc?

Racist not really, Offensive to the Native American culture yes.

I would have him sit with the alumni who are from the various tribes and let them explain to him why it was offensive. Then after that meeting re evaluate the situation.

I mean cutting off native Americans ponytails was a thing that happened in this country. I don't know where that comment he made comes from anywhere other than the history already in place with it.

Who knows if Shawn knew that or not. Either way the suspension is justified.

They get fired because the horses aren't drinking from them. Part of being a good coach is getting through to players. I havent praised or criticised anyone. I said that it was good JVR listened and responded to his coach. Coaching matters.
