i can assume Dougie Hamilton may cost a little less than AP?

Lets Say 1st, Lily and a Connor Brown and a prospect from the Marlies (not Sandin)

imo Hamilton is the perfect fit for the Leafs right now, age contract, RH shot ..elite d

good timing on this article

Dougie Hamilton, D, Carolina – There are legitimate usage issues with Hamilton, who has averaged just 16:34 of ice time per game in the past eight games, and his name has landed back in trade rumors, but the numbers with Hamilton on the ice are sensational. The Hurricanes generate 76 shots and 36.4 scoring chances per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play with Hamilton on the ice, both of which are best in the league. He also has 18.5 shot attempts/60, which ranks second among defensemen, behind only San Jose’s Brent Burns. So, yeah, it’s fair to worry about a defenseman who has just 16 points in 45 games, but all the underlying numbers indicate that Hamilton ought to be massively productive – if only he wasn’t in Carolina, where percentages apparently go to die.

I'm really not sold on Dougie Hamilton and it has nothing to do with his time in Boston. I've watched quite a bit of the Canes this year (god what has my life come to) and he is not that good in his own end. That and he is regularly deployed in sheltered situations it seems. Oh and his TOI is

Last 5 games (mind you, they've been playing much better): 18:36, 15:53, 19:23, 15:47, 13:31

Edit: see ^^^ post...late to the party. Although, I guess my eye test isn't backed up by analytics - not surprising

I hope this thinking brings down his perceived value in GMs eyes.
He had massive results last season with the Flames, them have GIO helps a ton. Imo on the Leafs DH would be a monster

Haven't watched him a lot tbf. The comments from what I assumed to be bitter Flames fans eerily reminded me of my critiques of Franson. "He has a strangely amazing ability to get pucks through to the net but can't do much else on either end of the ice."

(Before Bingo kicks down the door, I am not saying Hamilton=Franson. Just that their areas of effectiveness are similar [if the critiques of Hamilton are true])

Fair enough - I just don't get why you wouldn't let him play to increase his value.

Which is pretty much making your exact point, but in reverse. They aren't doing themselves any favors. My other point is that he is shaky in his own end from the looks of it and I've seen him join the rush and find himself out of position real quick. I have no problem with joining the rush, just his timing.

Does he do what Gardiner does and pinch-in at the blueline as two forwards are bearing down on him and lose the puck? If so, we may not need another D-man that does that.

I don’t see any resemblance between the two whatsoever.

Getting shots through? Any elite D has the skill. Hamilton is an elite D that seems to have something off ice that some teams don’t like. We will likely never truly find out what it is....but the GMs know. And that’s up to them if it’s worth having him around the team or not.

Hm... Jakey makes millions of defensive gafs.. sounds awfully like many forwards out there.

Why hasn't he been given a chance to at least try forward? Like he was his entire developmental years

Hyman - Auston - Kaps

Jakey - Tavares - Marn

Old man - Kadri - brown/the zohan

Little man - Par -brown/ the zohan

captain morgan - nylander trade
derms -old man on D/zait
?? - zaitsev/old man on D
