Well played Patrick.

- RickJames77

Also,

Krug's oZS % is 65.7.. Gardiner is at 50.5%..

This proves that Zaitsev is directly responsible for all of Gardiner's failures. If Zaitsev was able to complete a pass to someone not on the opposing team, then Gardiner would spend more time in the O-zone.

true... but he plays smaller

serious question - is there a limit to how a team can hold back in terms of contract? i.e. Leafs are holding 1.5M$ for Kessel... is there a limit to that amount?

- BorjeFan4Ever

in terms of max salary amount or how many times can a team retain salary in a deal?

The answers may shock you.. or me....

Well, we won't know how good, or bad Krug is until he plays a regular shift with Zaitsev.

Gardiner +18, Krug -9.
We all know that +/- is the only stat that matters in the NHL.. Which means that Gardiner is 27 times better than Krug.

- PatC80

damn I didnt realize that Gardiner was +18
i have no idea how someone who trusts that stat and thinks Gardiner is bad defensivley reconciles that.

Also dermott is -9 .. on he same team

the only conclusion you can draw is that the stat is very flawed

Gardiner fails the eye test for most fans because the glaring errors even a drunk idiot can't miss, hence the hatred. But when he quietly plays mostly mistake-free hockey for the other 55 minutes of the game, nobody sees that.

I'm not saying he's an elite defenseman, but I think he's a quality defenseman and as a 3/4 guy he's right there with the rest of the league.

He's going to get 6M with term and we'll be a lesser team when he's gone unless we can replace him.

Even with Dermott sliding up, the kid hasn't even played a full season yet; he'll be the next goat on the team with some fans.

If he was he'd be actively trying to overpay to acquire the services of Boris Johnson.

Doubt it.. If he was, his argument for Brexit would be, we shall leave Britain, but only if we get to keep all our ties to the rest of Europe..

To be fair, Theresa may has been trying to get a deal together. The rest of parliament are willing to risk brexit shenanigans for appearances or to be contrarian. Any deal would be better than no deal.

going to call total BS here...

after many years of watching the Leafs and listening to the media largely blow smoke up their you know what... these guys are well paid, they will on any given night not be successful (meaning lose).

what they can control is effort, preparation and improvement learning.

I don't find that booing a player or team is problematic, when they fail to either prepare or don't give effort.

this isn't little Johnny's mite team... where everyone gets a medal when they participate in a tournament. (huge vomit here).

Tavares signed here knowing the pressures that come with the position and team popularity. Stamkos did not. Doughty said he wouldn't want to. That's up to them at the time of being a Free Agent.

If some of these Snowflakes don't or won't sign with the Leafs because the "fans might boo them"... I would suggest that Shanahan would say thank you and be happy not to have signed that player.

Fans have the right to expect effort and when a high paid athlete doesn't consistently deliver anything but mistakes... or consistently makes the same ones, he/she expect to be criticized. If the team doesn't want to see a player called out... then deal with the repeated under performance in the locker room.

- BorjeFan4Ever

Ya its complete bs.
No proof of any ufa not signing with toronto simply due to the fans.
Bs.

BTW, Dermott has been given some increased responsibilities lately. He's been the worst defenseman at -9 in the last 10 games. Zaitsev is second worst at -1, so Dermott has been impressively bad.

I don't really have an opinion on Brexit or how it should be settled.

But it sure looks like hell from here.
