You're telling me Marner isn't going to want to sign here because Gardiner got booed once when he had a bad game?
- UsernameUnknown

I never said that.

It’s pretty simple. This impacts these guys negatively.

That is not a good thing.

We ran Kessel out of town. “You can’t win with Kessel”

Then he goes out and wins two cups. It really just shows you how stupid Leaf fans can be.

And yep, It’s the sheer size of our fan base. More people=more idiots. Sadly I think there are more idiots in this modern day era due to the internet.

No one ran Kessel out of town, he resigned them we traded him. No one said you cant win with him, thats poor context. What was said is you cant win with him being your number 1 option. I think that has been proven.

Fans often boo here and there when a PP is going poorly or they're just losing the game, but it usually fizzles quickly.

People need to stop acting like Gardiner hasn't been bringing this along himself with his play this year. He's been without question worse than he was last year, yet again shown no signs of improvement (this is without question his ceiling, and frankly I think he's starting to decline), and has made some truly terrible plays in the last month.

He brought all of this on himself, and it was the result of much more than just yesterday's game.

- mcleafs

Yeah let’s boo the 2nd best defensmen and 9th highest cap hit on the team. It’s totally his fault and not anyone else’s. 4 million dollars is an overpayment.

Humans have always been stupid but before the internet it was a lot harder for them to find a platform.
I still don't think we ran Kessel out of town.

Kessel didn't get traded because he got booed. He got traded because we couldn't rebuild properly with him on the team.
But that doesn't fit your narrative so you'll just ignore it. I got you.

You are 100% in that our fans are stupid. I feel like 60% of them don't even understand hockey. You ever tried to read a Leafs facebook post after a loss? It's hilariously disgusting.

- UsernameUnknown
Oh my god it's an absolute train wreck that I need to glue my eyes to. You can't fathom the stupidity of some comments people make and they are dead serious about thinking they are the be all end all when it comes to hockey knowledge. Then if you try and bring up CORSI, they'd yell at you for misspelling corset and ask you what lingerie has to do with hockey.

Ffs man

You said I was calling names and I simply just asked you to give me an example of it. It’s really a simple and easy task to do if your statement is true.

And you couldn’t do it. Gain some maturity and stop putting words in my mouth. Come back when you can have an intelligent debate without having to lie to make yourself seem like the bigger person.

Have a good day

You have your version of the truth, I disagree. I personally loved Kessel as a piece, but clearly was not a player who could carry a team. I dont think he was exactly run out of town, the team needed to rebuild, and we would have ended up still being mediocre with him on the team.

I just want everyone to clap all the players regardless of how they play. Then afterwards, we have a big bake sale for players and fans alike.

Is that too much to ask?

Edit: Maybe a largest marrow and best jam in class competition as well.

I dont disagree. He sucked last night but I wouldn't have booed him. Not really my style.
Lots of people did and they had every right. It's dramatic to say this is going to negatively impact the team moving forward.
If anything it could affect them positively.

Marner with the brutal giveaway at the blueline on the pp, but all anyone can talk about is the lack of effort from gardiner (not sure how being engaged and wrapping up a guy is lack of effort).

Edit: yes it ended in a goal and obviously wasn't good enough, but to frame it as lack of effort is just clueless.

- burn

I defend Gardiner pretty frequently, but that was a bad play on his part. I don't think he picked up that he was being followed, and took longer than he should have. He's not a slow skater, and he should have been on that puck before the forechecker had a chance to get on him.

IMO that's where the lack of effort was, getting to the puck in time. Losing the puck battle? It sucks, but it's understandable.

Can we be angry at someone else now? Let me first acknowledge that it's a team game, and they have been losing as a team. That being said, there's still someone I am more than willing to throw under the bus.

For me, that's Marleau. In the last 10 games, he has 1 Goal and is -12. For some quick comparables: Nylander has 1 G and is -5. Kadri has 3A and is -3. Johnsson, for what it's worth, has 3G. 5A and is +5; Matthews has 1G, 8A and is -5; Marner leads the way with 8G 4A and is +3 with Tavares who's 6G/6A +5.

People don't like to use +/- but in the microcosm of comparable situations, it's still a useful tool. It's time to reduce Marleau's role. The problem is that with his ironman streak, you can't really bench him without it blowing up . . . but he has just plain sucked.

Gardiner routinely, nay, mandatorily, allows the forechecker to get to the puck first, regardless of the amount of steps he was ahead of said forechecker at any given stage

I can't help but conclude that at the time of signing his contract, his intention was to only play two years. How the hell else can you explain the weird structure?

Bump him down the lineup.

He's still an NHL player, but he's not playing up to "Marleau levels" of hockey. I know he knows that. And he can't be happy about it.

He’s not fast either, gets beat lots. Oh well, I wouldn’t have let him talk to the media, he did it after the Bruin game 7, that’s enough IMO

It’s actually why plenty of UFA’s have not want to sigh with the Leafs our fans. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

No. This is a complete lie.
Point to these ufas that have said because the fans may boo, they didnt want to sign?
