Tanev out? Littlegrin in?

Realistically, what do the Leaves need on D? Is it just a solid guy to play with Reilly on the top pair, or do they need some depth too? Would one guy push the others down into more natural roles? Cap space is probably an issue for them? Would Zeitsev or someone else have to be part of a trade?

It's written by Tanner, so you know it is a joke.

Ryan Biech seems to be super super high on Byram. Said that 1st pairing defender is not an obscene projection. I honestly won't pretend like I know a sh|t ton about these prospects, other than some of the draft articles I have read, but it seems like a solid draft, just not a spectacular one.

Loads of depth in the top 20 but no stars. Precisely why I don’t care to tank

i honestly can't pretend to say that I know more than I do, and I don't really know whether or not the top 20 would be worth a tank or not, cause it really depends on who writes the article imo. Some have Broberg being a top pair, others say 2nd pairing ceiling. Ryan Biech seems to think Byram will be a top pairing puck moving Dman, others aren't so high. I think the gap after the first 2 consensus picks isn't as big as in years previous though.

No stars eh?
Kakko and Hughes don't float your boat eh?

I'd say two stars and a bunch of depth.

Broberg doesn’t appear to have much offensive upside so he would be the wrong guy to target. We should be drafting somebody to play with Bo. Lots of options

Canucks have their stars already, they’re set. What they lack is depth. Sounds like an ideal situation to load up on picks

I think they need another star, not necessarily a super star, to play on the Horvat line so we have two good lines for teams to deal with.

That player would be at least 3 years away then as there are no stars in this draft. Add to that the team is getting better, so the likelihood of drafting high enough to get a star is decreasing exponentially by the day. No, I think we need to accept that the stars we have is it until the next rebuild.

if Juolevi is the exception and not the rule, its probably not unfair to assume that most of our first round picks tend to gravitate as "in-and-out" of the lineup players in the draft +2 season. Horvat/Virtanen/McCann/Boeser/Pettersson/Hughes (forecasting). If we continue this trend, which in my opinion is a pretty good one, we could see a new prospect break onto the roster every year.

I agree, that’s how things should be. But the point was if there are no “stars” in this draft, and they need one more star to play with Horvat, they will have to wait until the 2020 draft, plus 2 years, making it 3 in total. Add in that next season you would hope would be better than this season and the likelihood of getting a “star” lower in the draft goes down further...
