Its worth noting that Rikkola hasn't played his natural side like once since being here. I don't think he's a for sure bust, but he needs to be sent down where he can play his natural side to get acclimated to NA ice until an actual left side spot opens up for him in the big club.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the 3 guys that have been "tire fire" bad for this club are all LD trying to play RD. Not saying I have great expectations of them at their natural position. Losing Schultz for 4 months was pretty dramatic.

JO's fancy stats are nearly as good as our top 2.

You should avoid using then I'd you want to put subpar Dmen above him.

Riikola needed AHL time and still does badly.

I wasn't aware JO had such sparkling metrics.

Like Ive said, Rikkis first longated stay in the lineup <<< then second longated stay in lineup. The first stay is going to severely chew up his season metrics. Most of the Pens had mediocre to horrible metrics in the 1st 1/4 or so of the season.

With how Hornqvist's injury issues have been thus far, I think the Pens must go after Ferland. They need the insurance and the worst case scenario is either Simon or Pearson are making what will be an amazing 4th line.

I’ve always been part of the trade Hornqvist community. I don’t think he’s going to age well. I see his contract similar to the Oshie contract (only much better). I think he’s someone who we should sell high on and seize a younger player with (this could be Ferland, or it could be someone else). Hornqvist as value though which is why I don’t think the same argument makes sense in my Brass for Spez theory (the theory that it gets Phil nasty hot at 5v5)

Horny still has 2 years or so before you need to move him though.

But he has and you just showed it. What's the average of the last 2 periods of the 3 you've shown? Then compare that to the first. Sure even the last 2 of the 3 are better than the 1st..all of this of course from a strictly CF% point of view. So much more to the game than that.

Would really love to see the rest outside the top 2 in those periods too. No pressure.

I think it's somewhat irresponsible to just go by numbers when the games haven't been watched at all.

And if you wait until someone needs to be moved, they usually become unmoveable.

I agree with this but I think it’s more than that. I don’t want him to become like Markov where he’s constantly in and out of the lineup. We have for sure one more year of cheap goaltending. I think if there’s a time to go for it it’s going to be this next season when Tampa, Toronto, and WPG are all hugely effected by the cap.

Since the announcement of the salary cap increase I’ve backed off my stance a bit on 72. I’m just bummed because I feel like we missed out on Kane and Skinner. Obviously Kane resigned and we’ll get outbid on Skinner. Is there another underpriced winger entering their prime? Idk. I think if we get into free agency this summer we can sorta do what Chicago did (only better hopefully). Could we land Kevin Hayes long-term and sign Eric Staal to a 1-year deal? Then when we need to re-up Murray we could potentially deal 72 after next season and re-evaluate.

Also, I think Hayes would be a good target for this season but he’s going to cost us. I like the idea of Spezza because it’s addition by subtraction
