When the head coach admits he's looking at the scoreboard in visiting stadiums for help with challenges it should have been obvious they needed to look further up the food chain.

Crap defense....D coordinator kept his job. Worst special teams in the league....special teams coach kept his job. Art Rooney II is less serious about winning than he is with the optics of stability.

Winnipeg was scouting the Pens consistently. They got a good look at Brass and I don't believe they've been back.

Spezza has stopped working in Dallas and Brassard has stopped working in Pitt. How is Dallas swapping for him selling? I don’t get this outlook at all

I haven't paid attention to Spezza in years(basically since he left Ottawa)but this year he has one less goal than Brass but has more assist and points. Last year he seemed to be in a rut with 26 points in 78 games. This year he's at 21 points so seems to be better. He's 35 so his points are gonna start dropping but last year was real bad.

Right, he’s trending upward and is he going to do worse with Kessel? I think not (but it’s possible). Brassard with a fresh start has 55 point potential which Dallas isn’t going to get from Spezza so I think it’s worth it for both sides. Then if he pans out in Dallas then they’re set at center for a few years if they can sign him. Given the market for centers, I think it works for both sides or at least has the potential too. I think Spezza could find some extra motivation being back out east where the travel is lighter plus he’d be playing for a shot at a cup

I happen to think Spezza would be a great fit on the 3C with Kessel. I posted data comparing Spezza to Brass and he definitely has better stats.

All this being said, Dallas is in the hunt and will definitely be buyers. I'm not sure what their needs are, but a Brass/Spezza swap doesn't make much sense.

I don’t pay attention to the Steelers or football but I hope they keep doing whatever they are doing. I love messing with all the dumbass football fans I have to work around. Brady is the best!

I'm not a huge fan of Spezza coming in at this point. One of the major reasons people want Brass out is his board play and 50/50 battles. That's not improving with Spezza. Spezza also 35 (36 in June) and it's only a little past half point of season. Lots of hockey left before playoffs start. Potentially he could be better than Brass, no doubt, but potentially he could be worse. Hes certainly not as fast for what that's worth. Yeah he has more points than Brass right now but I think he's getting a tiny bit more time a game and time on 1st PP unit. That's worth a few more points if so.
