How serious was Dubas’s “I won’t trade Nylander as long as I’m GM” quote??

If he doesn’t get traded for some grit and Defensive help I can see Johnsson and Kapanen getting traded for a third line center, top pairing D and grit (ie. Simmonds)

I’d rather lose Willy than two potential studs. But, something has to happen soon.

What do u guys think?

- Sasky_buzz

Leafs have Tavares, Matthews and kadri. I really don’t see them trading for a 3C. Probably 4c at the deadline again and maybe 4th defenceman.

I agree with the trading part, but not ready to write off the season. It does bug me, that the Leafs started their mid-season skid, once Willy signed. I wish that they'd look at a team like Buffalo, who's sliding in the standing and try to make a deal for someone like Rasmus Ristolainen. He plays over 25 minutes a game, good defensively, big body that doesn't mind playing tough and dirty. I'd even give them Willy and Gardiner, since we won't be signing Gardiner next year, so really it's Willy for Ristolainen. Its up to them, if they want to give Gardiner the money. To boot Ristolainen is a right shot. Dermott can move up to the second pairing, in Gardiners spot. I'm sure there'll be some stopgap defenders, once we get closer to the trade deadline.

Disagree.

Jay Beagle is the answer.

William Nylander: 16gp, 1g, 2a

this is a very close race....can Willy close the gap with the 6 games he has on hand.

Because listening to dimwits claim he's trash is quite amusing.
Wait, wait, wait. Matthews is only signed til the end of this season. Are you telling me he won't be a Leaf next year? I heard—correct me if I'm wrong—that if a contract expires, they can sign a new one.. with the same team even. Ain't that something?

Willy is Leaf for life. Just saying that, whether it's true or not, gives Uggie nightmares, and I love it.

I saw a tweet somewhere that said Matt Martin had more primary assists last night than Nylander's had all year

100%. They didn't need Nylander and certainly not at 7 million. Could have parlayed him into a top 4 d. Now they are seeing what happens...

I love all the "he's not very good defensively" jive talk in here, like they even watch out of market games at all or even care to define what "good defensively" means.

I don't watch any games. I form my opinions based on what Aetherial, Fake, UG, and Prince tell me. It's worked quite well so far, I must say.

I've never once seen a game that doesn't involve the Leafs. And when the opposition have the puck, I close my eyes.

Someone told me the other day there's 31 teams now.
