Nope. Not even close actually.

The odd mistake comes with the way they play. Which helps teams win hockey games.

There is a reason players like Gardiner and Karlsonn are getting to get huge pay days and the likes of Paul Martin and Alzner are gone.

- Santo_44

Because points and goals pays
But neither is known for their awesome defense.

I hope the Leafs can take advantage of him before he goes

To what end? Who do you like on the Oilers? I like Klefbom, Larsson and Nurse to some extent. Nurse is an LHD, though and is not having a good year. Larsson I'm not a huge fan of, but he's better than anything we rock on the right-side. Klefbom is probably overvalued there since the Oilers are something 3-13 when he's out of the line-up.

I like Puljujarvi, but really . . .he's a winger and we're pretty flush on the wing. The only other reasonable target is RNH and we're deep enough at centre, and he makes over $6.

Anyone think Nylander will hit 20 points this season?
- AlfieisKing

Yes.
He should
Hopefully.

He's playing some good hockey now and he's skating better every game. Only a matter of time until he starts scoring.

Needs to get to the front of the net and bang in a couple dirty pieces of poop, doesn't need to be cruising the parameter combing his golden locks while looking for a pretty pass or goal ( even though it is hot )

I'd take a flyer on Puljujärvi if the price was right. Some babcock love and time on the 4th line and maybe he can get his jam back.

I'd still take a chance on him if Chiarelli is stupid enough to trade him at the Chiarelli discount. I think he's a lot better than shown so far.

Same sh!t different pile.
The leafs writers for athletic are not scouts. Their writers, they of course research their own work as theyre suppose to. But they dont know anymore than any other writer for the most part. They have same info available to them as any other in the biz.

Ive read them, so stop pretenting like you know anything. Like most sports writers they have hit or miss articles.
Its not the end all be all.
Anyway, this bores me.
Moving on.
Cheers.

- Fakepartofme

Completely disagree.

Seems like you don't want to pay for it and just trying to justify to yourself that TSN and SN articles aren't complete poop and information less.

Have a good day.

i like Puljujarvi, draft picks.. Klefbom .. I dont know that the Leafs are necessarily good trade partners based on need. they are looking for a Winger, which the leafs do have.

I am sure Dubas can do something even if its small

I think he has all sorts of potential, and it's being sucked right out of him. I'd give him a shot, but to me . . .he needs top 9 minutes to be effective, or else he ends up in the same situation he is in Edmonton: not enough support. But he's not going to bump Marner, Nylander, Hyman, Kapanen, Marleau (well, he probably could . . . but . . .). Maybe he could bump or push Johnsson, but that's probably about it.

Carolina has to be the team we make a move with, they need scoring as much as we need a RHD IMO

I have to admit, I do like Pesce as a target. He's cost effective, under term, right-handed, and a decent top-4 guy.

Seems like you have no clue.
Never said tsn and sportsnet are better, theyre all the same. I enjoyed what ive read at the athletic, but its not mind blowing, or all that different.
You seem to believe that the writers for the leafs on the athletic have way more knowledge and insight than any other leafs writer. Some may some dont. Like with most journalists it can be hit and miss.
Unless youre simmons or cox, then its all garbage.

Might piss off a few Oilers but Adam Larsson for Connor Brown might be a good deal for both the Oilers and the Leafs.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't accept a 4th line winger for a 1st pairing defenseman. It might be the start of a deal, though.

That being said, Brown would work well in Edmonton and is the type of guy who would help them.

Put him with McJesus again and it could be a pretty decent pairing for them. He'd also be a Hitchcock type of guy.

They have to play the games, so this is sketchy at best, but earlier today I was wondering about performance against top teams (btw, Travis Yost did something similar on TSN that's probably better than what I did) . . .

Montreal has 14 games left against teams in the top 10, and the Islanders have 15. The Habs have a record of 6-8 against top-10 teams, while the Islanders have a record of 4-9. They are probably not major threats. The Leafs only have 8 games remaining against top-10 teams, having already played 16 times against the top 10 (they're 9-7). For reference, Tampa has 14 remaining, but is 6-4 so far; Calgary has been the best with a record of 9-6.

TB is the clear best of the best. no question. Might sound strange but I am glad the leafs are not going to win the presidents trophy. they can hang back and not go all Washington and crap out after being the top team.

i also dont want to play Boston again..tired of seeing them.. how about a Habs matchup...something different

Everyone is saying Nylander will hit 20p by season's end. He certainly will have more in the next 16 than he did in the last..... I just wonder what happens if he finishes with something like 15-18 pt, and doesn't show up in the playoffs.

Again I would say it's more likely he has an average or above average finish

Hold up. I didn't feel it was worthy of a click so are we getting Bobrovsky as the best backup goalie possible or best Marlies starter ever?

As I said. I'd take those errors every now and then. Nobody has ever accused Jake Gardiner or making the odd mistake. His name is synonymous with making a mistake every now and then.

I believe Dermott and Ozhiganov have some great advanced stats for the Leafs. Corsi for and all that jazz.

- walshyleafsfan

I wonder about his play at times.
