The Sabres are generating more chances and giving up fewer good ones. The own goals have been bad luck but that will correct itself, probably.

I smell a win streak (maybe not in a row but 10 game outlook will improve dramatically) avec un peu de secondary scoring coming. And suddenly fans will claim this is a cup contender again based off 10 games.

I'd like to see a 7-2-1, 10 game streak

The problem now is they're on the outside looking in, if they want to be a true playoff team, how they respond being outside of the top 8 for the first time in months will be a huge test.

Marquette probably isn't going to shoot as well as they did against UB again this year. They're a good shooting team, especially Markus Howard, but that was ridiculous.

EDIT: I guess this is the time of year to start watching everyone's Bracketology.

CBS has them as a 6 seed. https://www.cbssports.com...-basketball/bracketology/

ESPN has them as a 5. http://www.espn.com/mens-...e-basketball/bracketology

- buffalofan19

The dreaded 5 seed....ughhhh

But seriously they should win a game or two in the tournament this year.

A sweet sixteen appearance isn't out of the question depending how the brackets fall.

It's still early. They'll be in and out again at least one or two more times before say game 60. Thats when whether you are playing catch up or trying stay ahead really matters.

There is a small handful (3-4) group of people who will come to the defense of ROR no matter what. Despite how ridiculously wrong they are and how the trade of him to seemingly get him out of the locker room makes it blatantly obvious.

You have one who logs on at 5am to actively root against the trade we made

The other who will argue against the guy he wants to trade for because someone said he was better than Oreilly

The other seems to defend his character to the death.

Then MLew65 who thinks Oreilly is a space turtle from Venus or something

The Miami of Ohio coach said they were good enough to get to the Final Four after the game on Saturday, not that it matters.

It would be great for recruiting if they can do that.

They would also probably lose their coach to a bigger program!

James Mirtle saying “Can the Leafs afford to deal prospects and picks from an already thin prospect pool” interesting

Their big time "prospects" are already huge contributors.

They have to be very careful they don't become the Blackhawks...minus the cups.

It's a nice problem to have though.

They would have been fine without JT, but I understand why the signed him.

Our big time prospects will also be at that point by 2020-2021. Hence why keeping the picks and drafting is better then having nothing at all. Who is Toronto going to employ in the bottom 6 when they have 3 forwards making $10M+ ? Who is going to be playing defense on that team two years from now ?

Some people here want us to become the Blackhawks, minus the playoffs.

All comes down to what they have to pay Matthews and Marner this summer. If they take the hometown discounts that the Leafs want, they should be okay. Getting rid of Hainsey, Marleau and Horton's buyouts in the next two years helps immensely.

Still, if the two big boys take 20+, they're in trouble as you say and I'm not sure being careful will even help. Something will have to give.

Yes, late. Choose which digit you can live without having.

I DVR'd the game, so didn't get to partake in the discussion, but I was yelling at the TV for the Larsson penalty. If that's 4 minutes and Larry is 2, something is wrong with the (frank)ing rulebook lol. I think Dean Morton was officiating too, he's normally pretty fair.

Eichel got 2 minutes because McD is old AF and fell over. You're right.

I am a huge Sabre homer, but thinking that we can go 7-2-1 over the next 10, I feel is asking a lot. this team right now is exactly what it should have been all year long. An average to slightly above average team fighting for the 7th or 8th playoff spot.

I still think we are going to squeak in the playoffs but we are going to need to have Hutton and or Ullmark get hot and stay hot for 3-4 weeks.

They are rebuilding now. Thompson the first and second rounders would have helped St.Louis more then ROR could 5 years from now. Still a chance St.Louis finishes bottom 10 this year and hands us a top 10 pick next year. Even if they make it out of the bottom this year and hand us the 11th or 12th overall pick I’ll be giddy. There are a quite a few players that will go in the 10-20 range this year that we’ll look back on and go holy crap. I just hope Botts snags a couple of them. Trading one top 6 C away for two top 6 players that are much younger is a win in my books.
- Pegullaville

Ok... IF they’re gonna year it all down,
then i see where you’re going

They’re really only a goalie away from being a playoff team though

It’ll be interesting to see what StL does this offseason

It can be, for sure
But those picks can also not develop into top6 players

And you’ve usually gotta wait at least 3 years for them to do so
Look at Nylander’s development,
and he was picked 8th
This is year 3,
and it’s stil a coin flip with him as to what he’s gonna be

You can say u trust Botts & the new regime,
and maybe that’s right
But EVERY team has misses
Even Pitt, and Tampa, etc etc

So yeah... we could wait 3-5years to see how these picks turn out

I just don’t get why u seem to act like it’s such a “sure thing”
Bc it’s definitely not

I've said this before but, I have no faith in either goalie moving forward and in the future.
- SABRES 89

Not sure what ullmark has ever done to show HE'S NOT the goalie of the future?
