No offense dude, but you literally did a 180 to arguing against Couturier and calling him a one year wonder basically, the second 365 said he was the better player.

There’s no reasoning after that.

- sbroads24

365 brought up ROR and said "double what you wanted for him." So I pointed out that ROR has outperformed Couturier over the course of his career, and that ROR was not untouchable, as you're contending Couturier is. I believe Couturier could be had, and would be a wonderful addition. I believe Philly would be smart to sell high, and that the sabres have the assets to make that move. If he's a 50-60 center going forward, that would be a wonderful addition

Do you see JB overpaying to get him? I don't.

And as I pointed out Coots wasn’t given top PP time or good linemates until recently, and he’s since exploded and become a Selke finalist.

I don’t care what his freaking point totals were 4 years ago as a 3C.

He’s a 70 point 1C right now who can score great 5 on 5 and might be the best defensive center in the league.

I mean, they just aren’t trading him so this points moot

This article calls his season "disappointing." He's a Selke finalist with career worst +/- numbers?

www.theintell.com%2Fsport...SWHC&ust=1547497565930680

This one says the powerplay isn't very good with Couturier.

He is by no means untouchable

Beyond reason? You're calling a -7 hockey player a Selke finalist.

He's a useful player on a bad hockey team. That should sound familiar

No, he actually was a Selke finalist. Last season. Was second in 1st place votes.

Yeah, last year, which was an insanely great year for him. He's a nice player with a great year last year. He would help this team immensely. But he's not a Selke finalist this year, nor is he the untouchable hockey god you're making him out to be. I guarantee he's available for the right price, and the Sabres should definitely be interested

Sure, Mitts+ Reinhart + a 1st.

Because a team who’s underachieving with their superstar’s window being about 2-3 years away from closing isn’t selling their #1 center for picks for God’s sake.

Best value contracts in the NHL. Yeah, they aren’t dumping him

https://www.thesportsgeek...-for-every-nhl-team-3282/

Sean Couturier

Best Contract: C Sean Couturier

Term: 4 yrs | Cap Hit: $4,333,333

Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere could fill this spot too at a $4.5M cap hit over the next five seasons, but Couturier broke out as a two-way beast as the Flyers’ top center last season, making his current deal an absolute bargain for the club.

He potted 31 goals and 76 points last season, crushing his previous career-highs of 15 goals and 39 points. Whether he can repeat such a campaign is under question as he may not play alongside Claude Giroux again as a return to center may be in the cards for Giroux, however, given the elite two-way nature of his game, a sub-$4.5M cap hit seems like an awfully good deal for Philly.

That's from before the season when the Flyers had a nice year, and Couturier had the season of his lifetime. They're rebuilding now

According to....? And if they were, why would they move the 26 year old value contract?

It just makes 0 sense on all angles.

They have almost no center depth behind him.

They're the worst team in the east, of course they're rebuilding. And no one is gonna give them picks for JVR. Giroux has an NTC. There are limited players who they can trade to acquire draft murrancy. Trading a player when his value is high is the most sensible thing they can do. That was literally your argument for trading ROR

Except O’Reilly was older, was paid 3.5 mil more, wasn’t as good, was an issue with his comments to the media, and we had our franchise center already.

This is legitimately nothing like Ryan Oreilly.

The Flyers are not tearing anything down. Where are you reading or hearing this.

They’re getting terrible goaltending and bad coaching. That’s the problem

Unfortunately for Philly, they are NOT in a position to rebuild because they have pending FA's, NMC players and overbloated contracts.

They are in a rotten spot and f uck 'em

We can do better than what they have, honestly. Although, I'd take Giroux off their hands. That's about all they can do to load up on assets.

1st, Nylander, Guhle and if they don't bite, dialtone.

ROR was traded at 27, Couturier is 26. ROR was the Sabres most valuable trade chip, Couturier is probably the Flyers'. Both are best suited to a 2C role. Couturier is on one of the worst teams in the league, ditto for ROR at the time of the trade. The parallels are undeniable

If we ignore locker-room cancer, too, I take ROR over those two every time. He has slowed down lately and will finish under 70 points again IMO, but he's a 2C on every team in the league that has a 1C.

Except for the fact one has a bloated contract and was the supposed division in the locker room, who made dumb comments to the media.

The other is considered one of the better contracts in the league.

We were never going to trade 1OA picks, guys on ELCs, nor franchise players. And no Couturier is not a franchise player
