It's pretty unbearable in here after a win, let alone a loss....

It’s unnacceptable that the Leafs don’t have the best winning percentage in the league.

2nd is not enough. When has any team other than the 1st place team in the league won the cup? Never.

Like, we all want a D upgrade, but do we have to gut our strength, our offense, the core of our team, to do that?

The team is so young, with only ancients like Hainsey and Marleau taking us out of the top 5.

Why aren't we letting them develop first? Wasn't that the problem for like 15-20 years of Leafy Leafs teams, trading picks and young players for vets?

Kadri's had terrible shooting percentage (PDO) before, then bounced back and scored a ton. He's a cheap, effective 3rd line center for us; trading him would be silly.

Depends what the return is....I'm fine with him staying.

He looked good last night, looked a lot faster and more engaged last night...could be the Devils suck but whatever.

No need to gut the team but 1 forward/prospect/pick is needed to go if we want to upgrade the D....we can't all female dog about Hainsey and then complain about trading someone to move him down in the lineup.

Most are talking about trading for a guy who can still play, we're not trading for Lidstrom at 45. JMO

You know, only 5 times in the history of the entire Maple Leafs organization have they placed 1st overall. And one of those times was in 1920 when they played a 24 game schedule.

The Leafs are the Ricky Steamboat of teams. You know. Have your ass handed to you constantly, and then WHAM! Win out of nowhere! No one saw it coming!

I would too. They are all on different levels but having McQuaid as the 7th d man wouldn’t be bad. Who knows we could use him.

I’d sneak in Hamilton and Pesce in there is well.

- Santo_44

Agreed, but I think we'd have to lose an important piece to make those happen. Id love to get away with prospects/picks for lesser plays that can still have a decent impact. However, I have Petro on that list too who would require the same thing.

Tanev is probably the most unrealistic due to him being a superstar as well.

I definitely dont want to gut the team, and I think there are ways to accomplish that with some trades for decent, but no star dmen. I think it is time to address a need at the deadline.

Gudas, Bouwmeester, McQuaid, Tanev, Martinez and players at that level shouldnt require gutting our roster.

Wtf... why does the "Game in 6" for last nights game start at the Leafs being up 3-0???

NVM. Just a quick clip mistake I guess.

I am for it.

The Leafs are a good team.

And do you think Boston is just going to sit around at the TDL? Doubt it. They probably get a top 6 forward. And that makes our likely 1st round opponent even tougher.

It’s not easy to get 1st anymore. There were a lot of great NHL teams that won lots of cups that never finished 1st...or at least not more than once.

I have more memories of president trophy winners losing than winning.

Marleau has been a big part of the success this season, I'm more than happy to give him a pass.

That's the thing - you don't make a trade just to make a trade. If nothing worthwhile is available for a reasonable price then we can stand pat. There's plenty of pieces on the Marlies that will make great additions to the team.

Someone in here argued earlier that we should trade Gardiner just so we don't make the same mistake we did with JvR. Excuse me? What mistake was that again? Gardiner can only be traded if we can get a better player in return, otherwise he sticks around.

I think Johnnson and a 2nd could bring back Muzzin. I don’t think that is gutting the team at all.

I disagree with you.

I think it would be very silly for the Leafs to waste the last time they have deadline cap space on standing pat.

There are plenty of options available. More than usual...it’s a big UFA year.

There’s really no excuse. They have a big advantage by not having to send salary back or having the other team retain.

Yes, just not the strategy LOL. Honestly its not Babcock, whatever assistant coach runs the PP is responsible.
