At the start of the first period, I was pleasantly surprised to see Giroux back at center. I really liked seeing Lindblom with Couturier and Voracek. Full credit. However, by the last two minutes of the period, Gordon goes panic mode and back to old ideas. Giroux at Wing next to Couturier and Voracek. JJ called it “loading up”. Right away I’m frustrated because it’s almost as if this guy has no other ideas. None!

Now, to me loading up is assembling a Giroux, Voracek, JvR line. Whether you guys wanna believe it or not, JvR is the more proven goal scorer in our line up.

Sure enough by the start of the second period JvR makes things happen with better linemates at the start of the second period. Ten minutes later deflects a Giroux pass of a Dallas player and in the net.

It’s not that tough to figure out what JvR needs to be successful. Yeah JvR played with Bozak who is an underwhelming NHLer but JvR also was a linemate of Phil Kessel for along time.

Yes, JvR has been used terribly most of the season. How can you not see a completely different player tonight as opposed to JvR on the third line with Jordan Weal?

If you really, really need Giroux and Couturier together. Two letters. PK.

JvR isn’t remotely as bad a player as he’s been made out to be. I don’t question his skill or hockey IQ, just his willingness to get his nose/hands dirty as a power forward.
