I have their performance pro (150/5) for $89.95. They have Blast (250/5) for $59.99, but won't give it to me because that's only for new customers.

Ideas?

Is this you mom?

Normally I will call and when I talk to someone I get right to the point, I never try the threats or try to out smooth them routine.

"Look I want to upgrade my package and what I currently have is not acceptable, what deal can you do for me?"

If they tell me that's the best they can do for me then I would say

"I have been a customer for [x many years] and I see you have this package and I would like that, can you give me that?"

If they continue to shoot you down then you have 3 options, if you have another provider in your area then it makes things extremely easy:

1) Call back another time and try again
2) Deal with what you have
3) "I am sorry then I have no choice but to cancel and use another provider, thank you for your time" then call new provider and work on a deal for new customers

Most people give up because they don't want to deal with the new provider (setup/install/etc), but if you have the option then most of the time it works out for the better. Worst case you pay a little bit more then what you currently have for twice the service.

I think from my experience I only had to cancel one time to get what I was looking for.

lol true. Provy's drop off is just disappointing. He was looking like the future captain of the team. Now I have no clue where the team goes sans Giroux. Also Coots has not been the same players since he blew out his knee. It sucks to say it. Could he be on the move?
- bmoreflyer

Are you a WIP fan or a Mike Mis fan, asking for a friend...

2 solid years into a young defensemans career and he a future captain.
Half of a bad season and the first two years didnt happen.

For some reason I envision strippers cocaine and lots of vodka after a game. Maybe in Vegas.

Not to mention blackouts galore.

I'm sticking w/ r/NHLStreams/ (and adblocker), tyvm.

- Tomahawk

Exactly! I have no intention of shelling out $200 for gamecenter to have games blacked out. It is ridiculous. I live in Ontario and I had a Flyers VS MTL game blacked out because CBC had it on CBC montreal which I of course dont get, CBC had the Leaf game on so I couldnt watch the game. I called up gamecentre and had them cancel my subscription.

I have no problems paying but I am cetainly not going to pay for a service that tells me what I can and cant watch especially at that price.

Im rolling with gig due to the Blizzard work from home stuff.

Nothing like gig down (which is really closer to 800 or less after you factor all things in and less than 50 up..

Unless of course you need more than 50 up, which I do, and then it sucks.. lol

I just want to watch streaming TV, downloading movies, and play on 3 mobile devices. 250 down/5 up is fine for me. Hell, 150/5 is probably fine tbh.

You don't hang up and call again, ask for their supervisor or the customer retention dept. If they ask why say I don't feel like you're helping me. The supervisor might shut you down but then ask to cancel. Prepare for a long hold and then finally you'll get to the person that will give you the deal you want. It's BS and I go through it every time my contract is up. Usually takes about an hour.

The 5 up is a bit strange for me, I find it is very common to have at least 25/30 up with higher down speeds. Your location says NJ, by any chance is that South Jersey?

When I lived in Somerset (Central) I used to have great options with Comcast, Verizon and something else so it seemed easy then to get good service for a decent price if you looked for deals or called them.

Also one thing to keep in mind:

When it comes to internet service your modem AND router makes a big difference.

Obviously if you get gig service a DOCIS 3.1 modem is required. So I won't go too much into that since it doesn't seem you really need it.

As for lower speeds, this also depends on whether you own a modem or rent. I personally have bought my own modem for at least 15 years now. If you are patient and have the chance to plan ahead you can normally find a good deal on one, but do research not all are the same. It will save you a lot of money in the long run instead of paying those monthly fees.

The most important thing to know about what modem you have or when buying one is the number of bonding channels it has. That greatly affects your speeds. DOCIS 3.0 I believe has a speed cap of 500 down, but you might be able to see a bit above that when doing speed tests on a wired line.

Bonding Channels
4x4
8x4
16x4
24x8
32x8

First number represents your down and second is your up. Obviously the more bonding channels you have the better. Most people have a household of MANY online connected devices (phone, consoles, pc, tablets, etc) so more bonding channels means more devices you can have connected at once. If you have multiple tvs in the house streaming, one person playing games and multiple phones and only have a basic 4x4 modem then you will experience throttling and other issues. I would recommend at least 8x4 or 16x4 for your service depending on how many people in your household, but the 24/32x8 are mostly used for gig services or above.

Yeah South Jersey can be a bit sucky for provider choices and services, especially farther down near AC.

I would assume you have Comcast, but do you have Verizon run in your area?

Don’t even need PS4 for Vue. Can get it on pretty much any device. Sony should really remarket it.

YoutubeTV is just as good as well.

NHL website says all first and second year NHL players are exempt.
- MJL

it does say that but it also says the same rules as the Vegas draft. Definitely contradicting themselves.

What it actually says is:

"All first- and second-year professionals, as well as all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits)."

AHL seasons after the age of 20 count as pro seasons. Stolarz had played three AHL seasons after the age of 20, so he wasn't exempt and the Flyers protected him. Hagg had only played two AHL seasons after the age of 20, so he was exempt.
