All good. No reason to complain. I would be told I was wrong anyway.

It doesn't make me wonder.

They sellout every single game. Zero problems. It would be a different story if they couldn't sell out.

Don't be mad at someone for being successful. The consumer doesn't have to pay the price if they don't want to.

I'm always getting E Mails for ticket releases on game day from the Leafs. Stubhub has tickets, as does Ticketmaster. In the old days, it was scalpers or a corporate friend if you wanted to go to a game. Of course, and I've done it, line up for tickets at the start of the year for a couple or three days. Same for the playoffs....sometimes 4 days.

All good buddy.....I understand we have a differing opinion. The bottom line, I was 9 when they last won the Cup and I had hoped to see them win again. It gets discouraging watching decades roll by with no playoff success.

I was 1, you should be happy that the Leafs are at the top of the standings, not planning and predicting their fall. Not much of a fan, in my books. But that's just me.

Perhaps afraid that too many people share them, but that's about it.

Willie was 70th in the league in points last year.
So imo, hes overpaid by more that 250gs.

- Fakepartofme

Meh... the kid is 22 years old. How many of those 70 players were scoring at his clip at his age?

7M AAV seems alright to me as long as he progresses. This season he's shown up under-prepared, out-of-shape, and not hungry. If he can reverse the trend then I think his contract may be pretty reasonable. If not... well...

You can opt to look at that way, but they're going to look at it by age, performance by age, and then find similar players by age. You basically had, and we all know this drivel by now, Draisaitl, Ehlers, Pastrnak and Kucherov as age-based comparables.

Draisaitl was overpaid and Kucherov went for the 2 year bridge deal. Ehlers is basically prorated out to 6.2, and Pastrnak is basically prorated out to 7.1 if you consider the cap growth.

I'm not going to deny that I felt Willy fit closer to 6.5 during the negotiations, and would have liked him closer to 6. But 6.75 is still well within the range of being not quite as good as Pastrnak at the same age but still being a very good player.

It's actually not Capitalism. When you have a salary cap and equalization payments to weaker markets, it's supply management. Something like the Canadian government does with Wheat, Milk, etc.
- PrinceLH

I'd suggest referring to Wedgie's posts just before this reply.

And the fact that there are equalization payments and a salary cap have no bearing on the price of a ticket - if anything, the higher ticket costs (direct to the team, not the scalpers/resellers of course) actually drive a higher salary cap.

And there's really no "supply management" here - the Leafs are capped by the number of seats in the arena in an ever-growing city, not by an artificial cap to control price.

My friend and Leafs comrade, you really have some issues that a psychologist could help you with in regards to my political beliefs. I'm here to talk about the Leafs on Hockey Buzz. If you want to debate politics, take it to Twitter and I'd be glad to oblige you. Apparently, you've made it your mission to read all of my Tweets. Why not just follow me and I can get back to you public or private.

I agree entirely.

And I add that it's easy for all of us to be angry with him and expect more than we're getting and get frustrated more easily because of it. But if you do look at his underlying numbers in the past few games, his play is coming. His hands, aim, release, and so on are still not where they should be. He's not fooling anyone yet. But he will. I think he actually played very well against Nashville, and probably wouldn't have demoted him.

I also don't like the idea of a third line containing 2/3 of the players who will make stupid mistakes because they are under pressure to score. It leads to selfish individual play and out of position turnovers.

I could buy into this argument if the league didn't have equalization payments to weaker franchises. The spread in ticket prices in places like Arizona, Florida, etc., and the price of tickets in Toronto is way too extreme. If it was free market, there would be no cap.

Right back at you bud

And no, I have no interest in having your nonsense in my feed. There is no "both sides" to much of what you share - when you retweet and repost from people who are notably racist and xenophobic, you are just wrong. Your account is nothing more than a caricature of a time and mindset that needs to (frank) right off.

It is free market - it's just that Toronto has a high population, a fairly high average income, and a high rate of fan interest in the team coupled with a team that is in the right part of the standings. There are not many others teams that do (or even can) satisfy all of those, and as such there is no direct comparison between Toronto and markets such as ARI/FLA.

Because the white man (not all obviously) who doesn't care to improve and make a better life of themselves jobs are being taken by foreigners who actually have ambition and want to better their lives.

Shame on those damn foreigners!!

All you can eat pizza, sure.

All you can eat Pizza Hut on the other hand....

I'd go with the chicken and rice and skip the "poopting through the eye of a needle" that inevitably follows Pizza Hut...
