Considering the schedule through February and March, goaltending situation and how often its been proven that if Pettersson doesn't score then nobody scores, I don't think management would look at things and really think they were a Playoff Team.

Depending on what kind of action Benning gets himself into this summer with 33 million to spend, the team is sitting really pretty for the Seattle expansion draft. Even possibly having open spots to help out teams that might be in a bind.

He gets ~15 games and 5 weeks of practices/travel to learn the NHL before going into the summer for his training and then comes into camp next year a step ahead of where he'd be otherwise.

Its the same thought process of bringing Demko up.

Which circles right back to my original point, that if they were really thinking hard about getting Hughes to quit college early that Aqualini is driving the playoff bus and Benning is his puppet.

If they really want Hughes this season then it definitely means the FA is pushing for playoff revenue this year and Benning is his puppet.

If FA wants a playoff push, Hughes is not the answer. Benning better man up and tell his boss to stay the eff out of the way or go find someone else to make the bad decisions in his office.

its only speculation about what Friedman and others are posting about the Canucks seriously contemplating about Hughes dropping out of Michigin and joining the Canucks, but IF true, which nothing would surprise me, it just goes to show how bad FA/Benning+Co want to push for the playoffs now.
