He won't waive, if he comes back I certainly hope its short term, 2 years would be ideal
- NorthNuck

If the Canucks aren't 2 points out of a playoff spot come 72 hours before the trade deadline. I would tell Edler.

Waive and we will sign you to a reasonable short term deal in the off season. Otherwise have fun in free agency or retirement.

Just imagine you had an alternate personality that didn’t binge eat 106 cookies per sitting. It’s like that

If the Canucks are 2pts out of a playoff spot at the deadline its largely because every other team is sucking donkeys rather than this team playing well.

This team doesn't have the goaltending or depth of offence to even realistically even scratch a top seed.

I think he might still have enough value that that wouldn't make him nervous. I know he loves Vancouver but he's still in a position to make some decent money the next couple of years wherever he is

If he was willing to go somewhere else then i'm sure he wouldn't be worried about waiving his NTC.

You are dilusional if you think we are sellers if we are close to a playoff spot

Without Markstrom's .940 through December the team is probably in a midget fight with Chicago and Arizona down at 38-40 points.

If Markstrom comes back down to earth (like he has since the calendar rolled over)+Demko has growing pains+the schedule this team has through February and March then they'll probably be drafting where they were last year.

Jimbo (frank)ing up another deadline should have his ass on the street.

In what (frank)ed up world would he be a seller if we are in a playoff spot? Use your brain. I agree we probably start to tank

If the team doesn't want to re-sign Edler, they should be asking him to waive his NTC. if he says no then so be it, but at least try. I don't care where they are in the standings, a rebuilding team with a 32 year old top 4 dman on an expiring contract should 100% be looking to move that player.

And if they re-sign Edler for 4 years with a NTC...

So if we are a lock for the playoffs you would trade our top Dman?

The odds of this team being "a lock" for the playoffs by the TDL are so low that I don't think it's even worth asking this question.

They're currently 10th-last in the league and 11th in the West in point percentage.

Edler has said over and over and over and over and over and over again that he won't waive and wants to say in Vancouver. Once his contract ends he is welcome to chose whoever courts him.
Thought I'd try and prevent the 8 pages of Edler should get...

- Marwood

Edler should get 2 years at 4.5 with a modified NMC.

Brian Burke on the #Canucks on SN 650 : They need a guy like Tom Wilson in Vancouver. To win in the playoffs with a good top 9 and I thought as soon as Vegas played Reeves, he really made Byfuglien calm his pace and play. You need a guy like that to watch over your skill.
- manvanfan

I wonder why Burke is unemployed?

The team is due to regress anyway due to turnover on the D. In 2 years Edler, Tanev and Gudbranson all aren't part of this team unless something has gone horribly wrong. Move on from them when they have some value/before they turn into negative on your roster.

They need space open on the left side. Hughes is coming in next year. The team is still high on Brisebois and OJ. If you keep Edler and Hutton then you don't have a spot for anyone to graduate.

Better off to get some of that transition pain out of the way before the forwards have all entered their prime rather than waiting until they're all in it. Waiting too long puts you in a position to trade your Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson.

- Lindenis#1

Id be surprised if even one wasnt here two years from now. Resigning Tanev will be a a priority this offseason IMO.

Turns into a 20 team do not trade list at the deadline of his final season.

Again, i doubt it. The whole point is if he chooses to stay he retires a Canuck because he wants to. If he resigns, i suspect thats the case.

Yeah I'd agree on Tanev, I think we can expect him to spend the rest(or at least most of the rest) of his career in Vancouver

Ive never had any moment where this was a playoff team. Bubble team maybe. Are scoring pg is so bad even with Petey. I have also however maintained since QH went to Michigan that next year we will start to be competitive. This is a good crop of ufas, tgey might actually want to come here now that EP is here. The future is bright.
