I read that Dougie Hamilton in Carolina is available. Maybe DeBrincat (Plus) for Hamilton?
- DarthKane

Wait really? You want to trade the cat for a guy who has been on three teams in 4 or 5 years?

I disagree with the bolded. I think they have the skill and talent, and just lack the chemistry and consistency. They are still earning JC's defense, and their offense has actually been pretty good as of late. They could use one more top 6 forward with high skill, but I think that would be it. I know many would say they need more skill on the backend, but I would rather wait for the prospects to come up, and keep Keith and Seabrook to mentor them, rather than trade or sign any supposed top 4 guys.
- ToewsdNKanefusd

I respect your opinion. However Chicago is more than 1 top 6 away. Saad is to inconsistent and kahun is a nice 3rd line player , strome and Kane need a bonafied top 6 guy.

Drake, kampf and Perlini are nice but after that what does Chicago really have bottom depth wise, they need a solid 3c who can contribute 40 to 50 points bring some size and solid playmaking with speed to compliment kahun and Debrincant

Keith or Seabrook 1 of them has to be moved to clear a roster spot and cap space to bring up 2 kids one who can be a 7th d and 1 who can play top 4 Mitchell, beaudin ,boyquist .

I'm all for moving anisomov and saad.

Literally any RHD is available. Canes need to open a space for Adam Fox before next summer. They're just considering Dougie because they need to trade whoever will get them the best forward.

But Debrincat fought that predator, and Kane has actually been hitting people ... every blue moon. He might get double digits. Do you want more than that? "Are you not entertained?" -Gladiator.

Imo, Adb is one of the toughest on the team. He might have to look up at everyone he has a problem with, but he doesn't seem to take any crap.

Wasn't aware he took a star turn. I know they've done those Alien vs Predator (AvP) movies which weren't any good, but I would go check out AdBvP. Pretty short movie I'd imagine.

Is this worth it?

We get Hamilton who's having a down year for 2 seasons and trade away a cost controlled, young forward who's been tearing up the league.

Seems bad for Chicago.

A 6'6, 25 year old defenseman who has at least one shot on net for 207 consecutive games, is top 10 in goals among D men over the past 5 years combined, and top 20 in points.

What was the logic in trading Skinner this year. I know he is a free agent but Carolina is still short on forwards and I would have thought making the playoffs would have been a priority this year.

Hamilton had been playing injured since the start of November.

Said he started feeling better a couple weeks ago, and has 4 points in his last 3 games.

Don't get all the people trying to trade Cat when all he's done is produce since coming up and we're short of top 6 forwards as it is...

As much as I would like to add Dougie to the Hawks to help improve our defense, we already have Joki, Murphy, and Seabrook all as RHD on the roster now and Boqvist and Mitchell who are RHD defensemen as well. Doesn't make much sense to bring in another one unless we have another trade lined up to let go of another one but then that just feels like we're shuffling pieces around

The fact he's a whole foot taller and would ratchet up the average height of the team is alone worth the trade.

I know most people are joking when they put that out there, but there are a few people (here and that I've talked to elsewhere) that are for real wanting to trade Cat because he's too small smh

There were quite a few things, but the first one is that Jeff wanted out. Of course, he used his NTC to block a couple trades to other places, and according to LeBrun the only other suiter he likely would have agreed to in LA dropped out when they signed Kovalchuk instead.

Secondly, he was "The Guy" for about 8 years of playoff misses, and they felt there were too many guys that were going to defer to him on things and wanted to change perceptions of the team. They want Aho to take the reins and be "The Guy", which has happened.

I think they felt they could trade Skinner because they were counting on a few things that didn't happen:

1) Necas wasn't ready. He's close, and he's getting better, but he wasn't the dynamic threat they hoped he would be coming out of camp. I think they're going to let him dominate the AHL for a year (so that his contract slides and they don't have to protect him in the expansion draft)

2) Zykov didn't step up like they thought he would. Absolute bust on that one.

3) Rask was supposed to be our 2C, and instead he chopped his hand up in the kitchen and now is on pace to cost well over $1million per goal. Guy's been an absolute disaster.

For possibly your future offensive cornerstone who has 20 goals in each of his first two seasons? For a guy who has had locker room issues in both Boston and Calgary which got hi shipped out? No thanks!

Gus now is on a six-game point streak and has 18 points in his last 20 games. He’s tied with Hedman, Ristolainen, and Krug for 15th among d-men in points (more than Doughty, OEL, Werenski).

But people still want to showcase him for a TDL move, or want him in a reduced role period.

Just asinine.

When Joker gets inserted into the lineup, hopefully he’s the one in a reduced role as he gets eased in. He’s only got 6 points in his last 29 games (after starting the year with 5 points in the first 3 games).

Keith - Gus
Dahlstrom - Murphy
Joki - Seabrook

That’s what I want to see for the time being. No point in taking Gus off the top pairing while he’s sizzling.

Fair enough. I'm more worried about term though. We can probably get away with signing Cat for ~6 million for 5-6 years. Hamilton will want ~8-10 in 2 years?

I also think you guys will get more for Hamilton from a playoff contender than what we are willing to offer.

Yeah, I honestly think there's a deal to be made with Ottawa or Toronto, especially if Dundon is willing to spend the money to sign Duchene or Stone.

Darth is just being Sarcastic. His sarcastic comedy routine is getting old and played out just like Foley and Eddie O talking about Soft serve and turds. 😁

He's playing his way into a keeper role with this team and allowing our prospects to continue to develop as well. It's a win-win for the Hawks. As far as your pairings go, has Joki played on his off side before? If not, I'd rather not mess with that and let him build off of the momentum he's build since the World Juniors and pair him back with Keith and let Gus roam around with Seabrook playing back

I disagree, the habitual beating of the dead horse is what has run its course. As sure as the hawks suck this season, you will see pages of fire stan, seabrook sucks, Mcdonut is an idiot, etc. Last season it was Toews as the daily whipping boy. At least Darth breaks up the non-sense.
