Sheldon Brookbank added to the coaching staff.

Thanks for the info, BG.

My question is why? Why add more chefs in the kitchen? Who leaves?

Totally agree. Not only should there be a like button, but there should be a dislike button.

They automatically be tallied for each post. So if you post something and 10 people hit the like button there is a "+10" is in the upper right hand corner of your post. If you post something and 15 people like your post and 50 people do not like your post there is a "-35" is in the upper right hand corner of your post.

It would be very informative and it might limit the string of senseless posts.

If they wanted to take it one step further they could accumulate the tallies for each poster. You could then see the posters that are most in sync with the feelings of the readers.

Advanced stats for posters. Why not?

I'm on board, but this idea could bite you. I'm one of several who generates a lot of side conversations that carry-on for pages. Get enough likes talking about music, movies, etc. those conversations will never end.

Also, I, like others, have fat thumbs, and could accidentally hit the wrong button. Or unintentionally like/dislike something I didn't mean to. I still have that problem, haha.

Interesting fact:

Next summer, assuming no roster changes, the Hawks will have a little over $19MM in cap space, according to CapFriendly today.

But with only 13 players under contract....one goalie (CC), 4 D, (Keith Murphy Seabrook and Gus), and 9 forwards (Kane, Toews, AA, Saad, Kahun, Strome, ADB, Caggiula, and Hayden)

And, Delia, Kampf, Perlini, Sikura, Forsling and Dahlstrom are all RFAs this summer, (with Delia, Kampf and likely Dahlstrom all getting some kind of raise), and ADB, Strome, Caggiula and Hayden all RFAs the following year (at minimum ADB gets a decent raise).

Don't kid yourself if you think they are still not going to be in cap hell, struggling to find serviceable talent for low wages over short terms. That $19MM in space allows less than $2MM per player to get to 23 WITHOUT raises to anyone they keep.

These facts alone should make very clear why moves to get guys like Panarin should never get past the dream stage.

Anders Sorensen, who has been a Blackhawks development coach, replaces Brookbank as an assistant for the IceHogs.

I mentioned that in the last blog during the game, the last 2 games especially, we have made the Isle's and Bruins 4th lines look like a bunch of hall of famers are playing

Indeed, but it doen't need to be that way....... I don't know why I expect anything else but I guess I just hope against hope.

Thanks, I'm fine with that if it's better for development. What happens with Granato/Smith? They stay?

If you're planning on trading Keith and that's what Keith wants then
how Saad for Muzzin or Saad for Neitorreiter or Saad for FaulkDarling
w/$2mil retained on Darling?

- gazza53

I would not take Muzzin for Saad, Muzzin is coming up on 30, and is going to want over $4M AAV, being in LA I watch a lot of Kings hockey. Admittedly he has been good this year, but I do not see him as a future building block

Agree with this post and think the Hawks should focus on the goalie situation as you described. I'm in the minority with this which is fine but I would re-sign Ward to another one year deal, hopefully without a NMC. I can't imagine it will be at the same price tag as this year so I would expect or at least hope the AAV will go down.

Assuming Crawford is out next year, Ward as a veteran can mentor Delia and they can either platoon as 1A/1B or give Delia the reigns completely as a starter while Ward plays backup.

Not sure how many goalies on the market will be willing to sign for just 1-2 years for $3MM or less AAV. Ward may end up being the only option again but I would be fine with that. Use the available cap space to strengthen elsewhere in the lineup.

- AEL_Fox

That's why Ward was signed. He's proven effective in that he can give a quality start once in awhile, won't be a dumpster fire, will work with other goalies and proved he's a solid vet when he took over the room and said this ain't good enough.

In other words he brought a non-dumpster fire game and intangibles with NO term. Just like Manning (I know he got 2 yrs) and Kunitz.

Kahun is a solid 3rd line player not a top 6 guy. Kahun and sikura and Debrincant would be a solid performing line. Debrincant plays better away from toews and Kane and you need to balance out scoring and roll at least 3 solid lines preferably 4 lines.

Keep Kane and strome together with another top 6 lw

Trade saad and use his salary to acquire stone to play with toews and then find a solid lw with size and skill and speed to compliment that line.

Saad is to inconsistent and it's not really working out with him and toews.

- Taylorst1

Cat and Kahun need a different Center, with Sikura that line is tiny
and would get blown away by any other line in the AHL let alone
the NHL......a guy like Charlie Coyle might bloom with those two.

Add relegation for the 10% of posters with the worst scores for the year....

Stan needs to field a team where JC can start slotting everyone
where they belong.

Kahun is starting to shine, I wonder where he end's up, 1st or 3rd line?

- gazza53

Exactly.

As for Kahun, I feel he ultimately belongs on the 3rd line say with him and Sikura with Anisimov for now but possibly an upgraded center next season.

Kahun - 3C - Sikura
Perlini - Kampf - Caggiula

Colliton seems to absolutely love Kampf and plays him a ton especially now as the 3C but that's not where he belongs. He is a perfect replacement for Kruger at 4C. Slotting him higher on a regular basis just means the team lacks proper depth to slot everyone appropriately, IMHO.

Lol beat me too it. All Burish did was party with Kane, Versteeg, and Sharp. WE forgot about the great Colin Fraser too!
- bhawks2241

I will take Ryan Reeves and take my chances, do not like cheap shots, and realize this is not the goon era anymore but someone needs to step up from time to time and remind other teams of that.

I would love that as a 4th line. We could actually watch it dominate possession against better lines.
- bhawks2241

I think so, too. If this happens, then Colliton is better allocating minutes compared to how he is now, i.e. the 4th line isn't relegated to limited time but is trusted to shut down the other team's top lines.

In turn, if this happens, then that provides more favorable match ups for Kane's line and Toews' line so they have more opportunity to generate offense. In theory at least.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go away. Brookbank can possibly bring in a new outlook he and Colliton had some success in the Rock. If anything Brookbank is fresh breath of air unlike the walking dead Smith.

There are some on this board that would suggest that you do not need size on your lines. Good luck with that in the playoffs.

Walking dead smith, hahaha!!

Totally agree, get him out, pronto. Pp savior or not, even though it has gotten better of late. I like this move, because of more familiarity with the younger guys. It also eliminates the feeling of the vets being told what to do by a younger assistant coach, because these guys won the 13 cup with him.

Agree, whether the wings are DeBrincat, Kahun, and/or Sikura, they need a big or at least rough-n-tumble center to be their complement. Coyle sounds like a good option. So does Jenner.

Even someone like Kadri even though I know a lot of people despise him. Another one would be Koivu. He's getting older but as a 1-2 year option on the 3rd line, might be worth exploring but I imagine he'll retire a Wild.

Did you ever see "Little brother" Marc Savard on the Bruins have his career ended by Philly's Mike Richards while "Big Brothers" Lucic and Chara were playing for the Bruins? Please explain how the "Big brothers" on the Bruins and two of the toughest dudes in hockey prevented Savard from having his career ended.

Count me as a big Kadri fan. Since Babcock has come his game/IQ have really gone up.
