Thank you.......... Guelph going for it!

Entwistle didn’t waste any time after Canada’s quarterfinal loss to Finland on Thursday, scoring the game-winning goal with an assist and four shots on goal for Hamilton in the OHL the next night. On Saturday, he was traded to the Guelph Storm for five draft picks.

- Mr Ricochet

I have tickets for the Jan 17 game in Peterborough when Entwhistle and the Storm play the Petes. I'll let everyone here know how he plays.

If such a scenario played out, even if they want to unite the Hughes brothers, the pieces that I want, aren't on the table from Van ... who are you wanting to fleece from them?

I was thinking mostly picks. Trade firsts, plus a 2nd and 5th, or something like that. Honestly, even just getting a 2nd would be worth it. In my scenario, the Hawks are ok with either player, so getting extra picks plus the player they want is a win-win for us.

Oh, okay. I thought you were going the "ruthless" gm route.

I'm hoping the 'Hawks roll 4 lines tonight. I do not think it is in their best interests to be double shifting guys like Kane this year. We only need to observe the after effects of excess minutes in the current performance of Hjalmerson, Seabrook and Keith.

No, I think it's better to try to win trades, but not necessarily fleece the other team. Don't burn bridges.

Yeah I don’t really care for the double shifting of Kane.

IMHO, double shifting should be done only when the team is trailing by 1-2 goals midway or later in the 3rd. Or if a teammate got injured during the game or got thrown out due to a match penalty (example, Keith in the Flames and Predators games).

Great point. Especially since Carolina's gm thought we've fleeced him......

According to Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic, it appears the Montreal Canadiens' Charles Hudon has demanded a trade.

According to the report, Hudon isn't happy with the way he is being used and wants out of Montreal. Godin admitted that it is difficult to tell how formal the demand was, but there is no doubt that he wants things to change.

Haha, yeah, I know. He should be in jail for robbery.

I can't remember where I read it, (here or somewhere else) but the gm has been unhappy with trading with Stan because he felt it was unfair.

I don't follow Montreal, how has he looked? I know he's an rfa, and we have plenty of those waiting for new contracts. Not a high pay increase for most, but something to consider.

If it came down to it and the Hawks are lucky enough to choose between Hughes or Kakko, would any of you pick Kakko?
- AEL_Fox

Yes i was not all that impressed with the hughes brothers from watching the WJT. Kakko is also versatile center and wing i believe. As for hayden to me he is a keeper make a define role 4th line banger and crasher or top 9 forward same with perlini. Hayden imo could develop into a poor man's simmond or wilson but time will tell. Lines i would like to see if nothing major is done in the offseason or tdl.

Saad toews caggulia
Dcat strome kane
Perlini AA kahun
Dzingal kampf hayden

Joki keith
Murphy myers
Seabrook gus/ forsling

Crawford
Delia

Not sure if you mean Rasmus Ristolainen of the Sabres but he's a big kid who is a multi cat beast in fantasy and has eaten 25+ 1st rotation minutes for yrs starting as a 19/20 yr old....... Exhibit A for the fancy staters vs eye test peeps as far how much fancies help. Terrible fancies but produces on the ice. https://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/5987/

Yeah, I think I remember hearing something like that on here.
We got the better of them with the Darling trade, but who would have seen that coming. I was on board with trading Crow and rolling with Darling as #1.

With your projected roster, switch Dzingel and Caggiula. Dzingel is not a 4th liner; he's had a steady points progression since he entered the league and is on pace for 60 points after being a 0.50 PPG player last season. Likewise, Caggiula is not a 1st liner; he could be a pretty good 4th liner with his speed and grit. He does have skill but not top 6 level.

I'm not as high on Hayden as others are. He's just not consistent enough game to game or even within a game. I do agree, for him to succeed, he needs to have a strictly defined role and make sure he sticks to it. When he tries to play like a finesse forward and not play a heavy style, then his effectiveness drops.

As for Myers, I wouldn't spend that much on a defender like him when Murphy and Dahlstrom are starting to play well and prove that they may be a reliable shutdown pair. If the Hawks are going to spend a lot of dough on a D-man, aim higher like Karlsson. Otherwise, go for an experienced veteran like Stralman who could be had at a decent AAV for say 2 years.

Jamal Mayers paid Torres back the following year.
- z1990z

Well, as much as some call Torres hit bad and I 100 % agree ,I remember that incident well, Torres knew it was coming, and then he would have to answer the code, the next time he played The Hawks. Kudos to Jamal Mayers for taking care of that business the first shift he was out there against Torres, and Torres knew he'd have to answer and did not run away and hide like some of the other little Kate HUNTS, like Brad Marchand And a few others.
This area is where I would like to see someone on this team step up. Hayden and Martinson ain't sh--t. The cat, ya gotta love him for his balls, stepped in for Kieth,
Understand what Eddie was saying about Evander Kane, not a terrible, but rather a hard play with hockey being a contact sport, but someone should have stepped up and let Kane know, ya can't do that, yes it was the other way around he probably would have had something to say is it's his goalie got it yes it was the other way around he probably would have had something to say is it's his goalie got it rung up.
I have no problem with fighting to defending your mates. I wonder if it was higher than Coach Q, maybe like Scotty Bowman's , but then again he had Stu Grimson, McSorely, Probert, McCartey on his teams.

If the ping pong balls land just right, and the Hawks and Canucks are 1,2, what would Vancouver give to switch picks. As you said, I'd be happy with Hughes or Kakko, so while I lean towards Hughes, if we could get Kakko plus a pick or a prospect to unite the Hughes brothers in Vancouver, I'd be all for it.
- tvetter

Had not thought of this but damn fun to think about. If the Hawks get the 1st and VAN blows em out of the water with an offer to have bros Hughes, like the Sedin Sisters, you gotta look at it.

With Petterssen, Quin Hughes, very nice looking goalie in Thatcher Demko about ready (Hawks go after Markstrom as a FA?) and a certainty for a chance at a top player in this yrs draft VAN looks to be very good soon.
