Players still payback incidents today, do they not? Like Betuzzi attacking Moore for a hit that happened earlier? Didn't Torres have to "answer" for the Hit on Hossa in a subsequent game?

Yes, allot of injuries, not just concussions, occur from big guys having collisions at 30 mph. Let's see rules implemented to remove the dirty hits from behind, the elbows act from the game. The injuries during the course of the game inside the rules will be accepted as part of the sport.

This is part of my point, many, not all, questionable hits and fights that follow, need context to be understood. ....... As I mentioned fighting does zero for me personally but IMO it helps make the game safer.

But if they can eliminate fighting by draconian rules if need be as a fan I'm ok with it, but just don't think they can.

Most rules changes start at lower levels, the hybrid icing for instance started in the USHL. I think Major Junior has instituted new fighting rules but am sure the USHL. If you fight with less than 5 minutes left an automatic suspension. After x amount of fights, not sure how many but it's about 5-6, you are suspended. ...... So fighting is being looked at and IMO should be. But as the game and rules are today IMO fighting makes the game safer overall.

If/when a death occurs on the ice during a fight, fighting will most certainly be regulated out of the game. If the NHL won't do it after that, the courts will do it for them. Hopefully the NHL does it before it gets to that point.

You still need guys who can play but also won't allow other teams to go after your star players.

If you look at what happened to Crawford recently if Chicago had some team toughness that might not have happened. But the worst part was nobody came to crows defense. That's real sad.

Yeah - let’s use a 23 year old with top-9 potential (not exactly a crowded field in this system) with 16 games in the Show - let’s use him as a sweetener to clear some cap space.

Glad Stan is the GM instead of some of us here - and I’m not a big fan of Stan.

- StLBravesFan

You say that like it's a bad move. We knew Tevo was a special player. Sikura the jury is still out on him. We also know if Seabrook is moved this team from a cap and roster spot just became that much better.

Losing sikura if it meant trading Seabrook isn't a loss.

I know you'd agree Seabrook age and contract is a problem for this team.

Also their is no guarantee in the new CBA Stan will have the ability to buyout .

I wonder what not having SOME kind of deterrent would have done for Toews' career. Guy has taken a beating in the we'll make em pay for cheap shots to our 10 mil man on the PP system the Hawks have run under Q /StanBow.

Ah ok. Not that it matters much, Penguins are hot as hell right now, it's in Pittsburgh. Glad he'll get honored, maybe they'd want him to stay there with them for a pick?

Thank you. Always thought Torres had some hockey skills. Think he wasted those though and pigeon holed himself as a purpose player.

The following vids (next 2) is where I get behind Pauly and his argument to end fighting, at least in certain instances. .... That freak Tortarella sent out his guys to line brawl. That is when a player could get killed/maimed with no refs to step in once a guy is in trouble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH6VXsRjzLg

But, as Sage mentioned this kind of nonsense sells tickets.

Him, Wise, Barratt, Kurashev, Soderlund, and possibly Entwistle could all be top 9 players in 3 to 4 years. I don't think the cupboard is as bare as some people say. Granted, there's no Kane or Toews in the pipeline, but let's see what this draft produces.

What return can be realistically expected for these players with remaining 2018-19 salaries retained?

Kunitz - 5th rounder
AA - prospect & 2nd rounder
Keith - top prospect & 1st rounder
Ward - 5th rounder
Kruger - 4th rounder or middle prospect

- Assman22

Ward will at least fetch a 3rd. Possibly a 2nd. Remember Hutchinson was traded for a 5th round pick.

He can play center too. He´s had underwhelming season so far in KHL. Don´t get too excited about Shalunov. There might be something there but he is far from sure thing.

Thank you.......... Guelph going for it!

Entwistle didn’t waste any time after Canada’s quarterfinal loss to Finland on Thursday, scoring the game-winning goal with an assist and four shots on goal for Hamilton in the OHL the next night. On Saturday, he was traded to the Guelph Storm for five draft picks.

Everyone keeps saying mixed messages, let's define a couple of things.

Rockford has some talent however at this point nobody special and a few years away from these kids making the jump.

Now we have to aging defenseman who hold 2 roster spots and eating up 12 million in cap space.

We have toews and Kane eating up 21 million , both aging but still in the realistic realm to win another cup in a year or 2 tops .

So I guess do we just blow up this team or make a few needed trades of 2 aging core defenseman and a coup,e other players such as saad and anisomov

To gain cap space, better skilled players for the positions needed and picks , prospects?

Last but not least each year is about winning a cup , I don't think any team that is losing wants to wait 3 to 5 years In hopes to just get back to contending or making the playoffs?

Keith value is the highest right now it will ever be for the remainder of his contract that's a realistic assessment. If Keith decides to waive his NMC id rather it's to a team he feels is a contender.

Keith won't be tradeable after this season just because of his age at that point.

Seabrook if he could be moved it's late August early September to a team needing to hit the floor or to bring veteran leadership to youth and 2 things are for certain Chicago like past mistakes will have to sweeten the deal and that's the price which I'm okay with to rid this team of that horrible contract and gain cap space and a roster position for 1 of the kids.

Anisomov and saad both would be deadline moves for picks and prospects or as a sweetner if keith gets moved.

Nobody here can name 1 person in Rockford with certainty they believe will be a top 6 player.

That being said Chicago will need to make trades to stock up and free agent signings to address their priorities

- Taylorst1

I agree there are no top 6 player shows and the rock but all you are promoting is trading away the players who are in our top 6/9 for cap space which Stan has used poorly this year while saad and adb May or may not be long term top 6 player and trading them for unknown picks and or prospects is foolish. They need to make real hockey trades like Keith to Toronto for one of there fowards ( kapien) as an example. And I disagree that Keith is only tradable this year next year his actual salary goes down if he wanted to move that would help budget teams. But again why move someone’s just for the sake of moving someone?

Stan needs to make hockey trades or sit on these guys. we aren’t becoming cup contenders next year thru free agency anyway. SO why trade assets to have cap space when in almost every year the majority of the best ufas sign before they hit the market and who answers our biggest issue which is defense???
