Annnnd, we have an explanation for Kunitz drawing back into the lineup

Charlie Roumeliotis
@CRoumeliotis

Chris Kunitz is being honored in Pittsburgh on Sunday for Penguins 10-year anniversary of 2009 Stanley Cup team. Classy move by #Blackhawks to get him back into lineup for that.

- pdx2ord

Wonder why he was back .HAWKS seem to be making roster decisions more on people feeling then winning games .

He was the personification of toughness.... I would take a team of these guys over a team of dB goons any day. Remember watching a replay many years ago of the Stanley Cup winning game against Philadelphia. 04 skated off the ice and sat down and immediately started shaking and flexing his head and neck because he was in such pain from the previous play. Look on his face was terrible.....and he was right back out in the next shift!

How about the last cup run when Q had no choice but to basically go through the whole tournament with 4 defensemen. I believe that cup run took a major toll on Jammer, Keith, Seabrook and Oduya. None of them have played the way since. That was the year Kessler said no team can survive all the hits we are going to deliver. Well they survived that series and a Tampa. All 4 were the epitome of toughness. There price of winning the cup for them has been the decline in their play since.

Not the first time. Wasn't that the reason we traded 2 seconds for Timmonen? So that he can hoist the cup?

All of his formaldehyde was worse than the smelling salts. I'm glad he moved. Can't wait to see Brookbank's "mark" on the team, and his 3rd period interviews.

Kane also wanted Hughes in the prior draft.

It will be interesting to see how this draft shakes out, especially for how deep the talent goes.

I think it all took a toll on them and especially for guys like #7 and #2 who continue to climb the all time games played list. Also Keith I think was really not the same since his knee problem and Seabrook I still think has a bad back since the St Louis series in 2016. Hjalmarsson has taken so much abuse between the shot blocks and going into the corners and getting hit. Oduya to me, seemed to just get old.

I think it's funny how people on hear are trying to compare grimson and peluso to eager and how one team won the cup. It takes alot to win the cup. You really needed that toughness back then to get through the regular season and then the playoffs.
Then after the lockout and rule changes regarding fighting it was still a important element. Nowadays it's still a lil important but how the game is played like rec league shinny game with no emotion you can get by with one or two tough players who hit. Problem hawks really have no one I hope martinsen comes back up.
Most hawks games are boring but at least he's entertaining when he hits

Ek is saying the hawks are 1 of a few teams looking into Dzingel. I feel like his name is tied to the hawks pretty frequently. Is that because he's from Chicago?

Top 5 does seem to be steady with Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Podkolzin, and Dach. The 6-15 slot and even the rest of the 1st round has been shuffling around which is to be expected.

Yeah he's been a rumored target of the Hawks for the past few years mostly because of his potential and not living up to it just yet (though it seems he is now...in his contract year...hello I'm a red flag!!!) and he's from Wheaton

I'd be happy to walk away with any of those five guys going into next year. Seems like the top two D-men arent getting too much love this year in Byram and Broberg. Works for us since we need a top six forward prospect going forward

Lot of brain damage spent on Martinsen for several pages, but I think the reason he was sent down over Hayden are inexusable mental gaffes in limited 4th line roles. In the Winter Classic, he doubled one of the Bruins' D at the point with Kruger instead of switching to take the open D man who promptly put the Bruins in the lead for good.

Hopefully Sikura gets more confident in Rockford and both Sikura/Marty can help the tem with a playoff push.

- phantasmo

Depending on what wing the guy was playing -- that one might have been on Kruger ... you generally don't criss cross with defensive assignments like you do when you are forwards breaking into the Offensive zone. Kruger isn't a winger - so it is basically his responsibility to cover the open guy (unless of course the open guy was over on Martinesen's assigned side of the ice).

Yes Steve Smith although he did screw Calgary when he was playing there in their playoff run putting the puck in his own net.

- Taylorst1

That was Edmonton he was with, and he did put it into his own net. They were playing the Flames- it allowed Calgary to advance -they won the Stanley Cup that season.

Nm ... it got covered already ... the hazards of living a lot of timezones away and going oldest to newest post...

The other forwards in the top 10 are attractive as well especially if the Hawks have bad luck with the lottery balls. Boldy, Lavoie, and Suzuki.

I'd even take a long look at Newhook as he was formerly ranked pretty high, top 5 even, in the summer in to the fall.

Kaliyev is the only one I would pass on.

I think Bowman is somehow related to Chip or Joanna, because he's always looking for that fixer upper. He is having a good year, and because of that some team will be screwed.
