Yeah seems like he would have been a serviceable 4C.
- sammy87

6 goals and 3 assists in 29 games... that's a 15 goal pace and 25 points. Lazy googling says hes a 4th line left wing over in st Louis. I like those numbers in a 4th liner.

How should they have used him correctly?

Clearly Vegas figured something out. That being said, I’m not suggesting he was a good fit, just suggesting they could have got more out of him.

Well done!

If you have more free time can you write out all of the signings JR has done since becoming GM?

I think trading for Perron at the time was good.

I also though trading for depth C in Winnik was good too since they gave up basically nothing.

I mean... as awful as it was to watch Hainsey handle the puck like a live grenade... it worked out. So... was it bad in hindsight? While I thought he was terrible, and the Pens lucked their way to the cup, many around here would say you don’t win a cup on luck and Hainsey played his part.

I agree the Sheary trade was bad.

Not a fan of the DP trade. I’d rather have him on the 3rd pairing than JJ and Rikkolla.

Not a fan of the Sprong trade because obvious reasons.

I would be one of those who say you don't win a Cup by luck. You might win a game by luck but you don't win four straight series by luck. In spite of being everybody's whipping boy here on a daily basis, he played big time minutes in those playoffs trailing only Dumo. The Pens don't win that Cup without him regardless of what the fancy stats may or may not say.

Here is evidence of the silky smooth skating and hands of Ron and a big "F" you to all the haters.

WOW so basically you can confirm that JR makes deals and doesn't sign players. JJ is the most notable FA signing.

I’m not saying that they win the cup without him. I’m also not saying that he didn’t play his part. I’m just saying that a team that regularly gets out shot and out chanced on a game to game basis has a lower probability of sustainable success.

Gotcha. My comment wasn't directed to anyone in particular. I was just pointing out that in those playoffs the dumpster fire that was the Penguins defense, the 35 year old man held his own.

Is it fair now to say that JR usually wins trades? Thanks to those that have weighed in.

I'll agree. At first when the trades happen, I keep asking what the heck is he doing. Ex: When they traded Despres for Lovejoy. I was livid. But it turn out pretty great!

Ive always liked what ole Jimmy has done for the pens. Some of the blogs of the past and present here just are ALWAYS negative so I think its always looking at the negatives instead of a lot of positives to. Obviously he isnt perfect but hes willing to make an effort always to make the team better. I hate when GMs just sit there and do nothing for over a year then blame the previous GM for the mess. I dont know of any GMs that are perfect over 4 ish years of work.
