Friedman believes the Vancouver Canucks could be “looking to see what’s out there for Nikolay Goldobin.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Goldobin, 23, sits fourth among Canucks scorers this season (23 points in 41 games) and is on pace for a career-best 45 points. However, he’s been frequently shuffled among Vancouver’s forward lines and was a healthy scratch last night against the Senators, increasing speculation he could be on the trade block. There are also ongoing concerns over his defensive game. Could be worth monitoring in the coming weeks, especially with the Canucks surging back into playoff contention.

He basically played in that spot the whole game on Monday. He generated 0. The Sam and Skinner might as well have been out there without him. There were times Skinner looked like might as well have been the only forward on the ice.

They've had a practice together now. I think he's going to pleasantly surprise a lot of people

Such little faith. He will excel
- jcragcrumple

I don’t believe he can push a line at least I know Casey will try to make plays

This could be Sam’s Spotlight moment to see if he can carry the team

He’s alright liked him his draft year but I think he’s just having a unusual year like Jake Virtanen IMO

The highest I would go is probably a fourth or fifth

If Erod can get the primary assists on goals from Sobotka and Larsson, he can help Skinner.

Such negativity

He had all year to impress people he could’ve took advantage but didn’t

This is where the team needs to take risks play Sam at center or Casey they Have the highest potential to succeed on the top line

It’s not negative some players are just supposed be 3rd -4th line players to succeed look at Gus he’s pretty good now

Well there’s some in here that will never give Sam credit

Fancy stats only matter when talking about Berglund’s play on the 4th line
Or the number of high danger scoring chances that Thompson has in games on Tuesdays when the moon is full

- jdfitz77

This is getting pathetic now dude.

I hope they do well, but anyone besides Jack is a giant downgrade. I'd temper the expectations of him "helping" the guy with 26 goals already

Erod has the highest points per game of any center not named Eichel, he has the speed to keep up with Skinner and the vision to feed them.

Suck it, haters!

His vision is garbage unless it’s a 2 on 1

I bet that line gets shuffled during the game.

I’ll gladly eat my words but it’s just not gonna happen.

They go from Jack to a guy who has been shuffling between the 3rd and 4th line who isn’t a full time center.

His speed is detrimental to him more often than not. Most of the time he blows right by the puck and then has to backtrack to try and pick it up. In the meantime, the other team ends up with possession and now he has to fight to get it back.

Listen, I don't hate the kid, but he doesn't' even remotely belong on a line higher than 3. In a situation like this, I'd be fine with him on line 2 for a few games, but that's it. Certainly not line 1.

I'm so confused as to why they aren't either breaking 23/53 up, trying 23 at center, or putting Casey there to see if they can get him some confidence.

I don't get it. Unless maybe showcasing E-rod to be potentially part of a trade

Nah, Erod is my boy. I fully expect him to assist on a Skinner goal tonight, and I fully expect half the people here to say Skinner did it in spite of Erod

Casey is in their long term plans right? Why wouldn’t they try him there and see what he can do with real talent?

But no let’s put a guy who isn’t a full time center there??

Doesn't make sense to me. I think it is very telling of what the org thinks of Casey at this point. IMO.

The NHL's not going to make that mistake again. You get one player, pre-picked, from each team. Skinner is the Sabres' choice.

I'm not sure it's that or if they're afraid to add more pressure to him. But overall I feel like they could bump him up but put him on the wing. Put Sam at C. That would take some of the pressure off while still moving him up.

With how bad the rest of the team is struggling, now's as good of a time as any to blow up the lines and see if they can get SOMEONE going.

The one thing that I thought Casey would struggle with is his play in the D zone.

That hasn't been the issue IMO

It's just weird
