Sandin looks pretty good this tournament. Gardiner having one more year would have been perfect to give Sandin and Dermott a little more time to get ready. Dermott hopefully can take over a top 4 role next year on the left side.

life is beautiful... I enjoy the "dance" that exists around these topics... the truth is I really don't care what washer/dryer we have, only slightly care about select appliance choices (eg an espresso machine)... and therefore just string along those conversations about those items.

when my better half bought a new car a few years ago - genuinely told her "I won't test drive the car with you... I don't need to, you're selecting and buying the car for you, not for me"... she was dumbfounded at the time.

I'm now in the market for a new vehicle for myself, and reminded her of that conversation from a few years back ... "no honey, you don't have to help me with my research or with picking the vehicle"... "do you remember our convo of a few years ago"...

its going to be Rielly, Dermott and Rosen on the left side next year - unless there's a major acquisition by Dubas.

still need to address the right side, failing anything else happening Hainsey can't be the in the top pairing if he were to resign for another year.

they really should consider moving Gardiner by the deadline and going all-in on a RHD with some upside, and yes I realize there isn't many of those, particularly cost controlled ones.

I don’t really see the point of trying to move Gardiner. Rather add to the D core without moving out Gardiner.

here's how old I am....

I had signed caricatures of Stan Makita, Bobby Hull, Dave Keon and a couple of others. Got Makita and Hull signatures at the old original "hot stove lounge" at Maple Leaf Gardens as 7 or 8 year old. Keon's also signed.

My mom, bless her soul, through them out when I moved to Europe after university - because they took up "so much space". They were tucked inside the cover of an NHL Esso Power Players book - which was absolutely complete.

I’m not going to lie, that mandatory game suspension kind of sucks for ovechkin. He’s coming off a long year, and a lot of partying. It’s to bad that because he was selected and needs a break that he has to sit a game. Although he might not hate it because it gives him an extra night off. It would be more of an issue for coach and fans.

Meh, he knows a suspension comes with it and was still willing to sacrifice the money. He obviously doesn't care.

They didn't play poorly, they just took a lot of avoidable penalties.

Although I think the refs should loosen up a bit when it comes to Canada/Russia or Canada/USA - both squads can handle physical play.
