WILL THE SABRES TRY TO ADD SCORING?

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Mike Harrington recently observed the Sabres are running on fumes offensively of late and wondered if GM Jason Botterill will attempt to address that need soon. He believes Botterill is trying to find help but rival GMs are reluctant to make significant deals right now. The Sabres could use an experienced second-line center. Options could include Jeff Carter of the Los Angeles Kings, Brayden Schenn of the St. Louis Blues and Charlie Coyle of the Minnesota Wild but they won’t come cheap.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Carter could be unwilling to accept a trade to Buffalo and retire, leaving the Kings with an annual salary-cap recapture penalty for the next three seasons. The asking price for Schenn or Coyle could be a promising young Sabre such as Casey Mittelstadt.

Doubtful Botts trades Mitts at this point. Minny is gonna clean house and sell big time but I'm not so sure I would want Coyle, rather take Nino. Schenn would be a nice pick up but I doubt the Blues move him as they have turned things around.

Spooner, Toffoli (pipe dream), Anisimov (has a M-NTC and a little older at 30) could be a few others but at this point I think they stay the course and need to work through it.

On a side note, I liked a few of CJ Smith's shifts last night. Eventually, I can see him secure a roster spot. I like him as a 3rd line LW.

Duchene is a rental so that doesn't make sense

Duchene, Silfverberg and Zuccarello would be rentals and Coyle has one more year. I don't think Botts will go for rentals.

Doubtful jbotts trades mitts. But if he did, Minnesota seems like a good trade partner.
Mr. Minnesota hockey 2016?

I agree with cj. He really looked like he was trying harder then most of the other Sabres last night. Good to see.

What's bad to see: how noticeable a rookie's effort was, in comparison to the our nhlers

Agree with your last statement. This team hasn't been right since the Berglund fiasco. I thought Tage had some good shifts last night as well. Skinny was trying too hard, forcing things. And I'm starting to dislike Hutton, he flops around like a hobo grabbing a quarter on a side street. He needs to stay in his net. Not a fan of his style.
