Im sure they inquired about all available avenues and thats what they could get. If doughty didnt want to come here (who the (frank) would leave LA to come to edmonton?) then theres nothing anyone can do about that.

well we got a dman. its not even close to the one we wanted, hasnt made us a better team, quite the opposite actually, and its one of the worst deals in oiler history, but hey-hes a defenceman and i told you id get one!!

Yes I wasn’t saying Doughty was the guy. I was saying that caliber of player. If you’re trading a superstar in this league you let it be known to the entire league to up the offers too. The Hall trade came out of left field and many people inside the organization even had no idea. Your job as a GM is to get the highest return on your asset. He didn’t even come close. That alone should have caused him to be fired, not even including any of the other acid-trip deals he’s made.
