There are no moves to be made though that doesn’t hurt our future that can help us this season though. Dealing a first round pick to have a chance at maybe winning a series is pointless. The ROR and E.Kane trades were for futures. The Skinner trade was the only move that Botts made that signaled attempting to win this year and was made in good faith to help the morale of the team. I’m sure he made the trade in the hopes he resignes to help us in the future.

Sheary is a competent 2nd line wing, but doesn’t create in his own. Okposo... eh. Carter isn’t exactly a rental and we just found 3+m in the couch cushions.

I mentioned this a blog or two ago, but okposo got signed based on what he did with Tavares and Sheary got picked up on what he did with Sid. We have wingers that can produce with talented centers. We just dont have a second line center. I believe Mitts will be good, but pushing him in to the #2C position or hoping berguland or sobodka could hold it down was wishful thinking.
We need a #2 center.

I don't disagree with that just as long as the reason isn't "it'll hurt our chances of drafting a good player".

I don't think the Skinner move was a "this year" move either. I think it was a calculated risk with an eye toward the future. He gave up a pittance for him. And should be able to recoup it easily if things go South with him. As long as Botterill didn't wait until the last minute. The biggest trades usually go down a few weeks to a month before the TDL.

Last night they squandered 2 points and frankly fell asleep in the 3rd. I don't know what the answer is and they probably should make a move, maybe a buy low deal for Spooner or Coyle but I think Botts is gonna sit tight.

I noticed a few times they seemed disorganized in the neutral zone and were 'squeezing the sticks' a bit. Okposo had a lane to fire a wrister and dropped it back to the point. Dumb.

Isles and Panthers in the next two, gotta get back to their winning ways and get 4 points. December has not been a good month.
