How will we replace their production?

Do you think 10-point players just grow on trees?

Olofsson has the best points per game of any Amerks forward

He has the 3rd most goals

Olofsson has 1 PP goal - the rest are even strength

There is no denying Notreadysson

Do you think he'll be effective 5v5 in the NHL? Honest question.

Although an awesome idea, I just don't see how we could acquire Seguin. His cap hit of $9.85M that kicks in next year is hefty for this team, knowing Dahlin, Reinhart and Mitts coming. We would need to trade salary back to Dallas to make it work and I doubt they would have interest in Okposo, Sobotka, Hunwick or Sheary. Besides he has a NMC and I doubt he waives to come here.

I would , rather, have them pursue Mark Stone, Panarin or Nyquist. Anders Lee would be a nice get as well. The cap is going to $83M and that would give us roughly $31M in cap space, even with Okposo's contract. Re-signing Skinner will give us $22, sign a free agent and re-sign the RFA's and yes, it is possible.

Pontus Holmberg

Puck-possession winger with top-six upside
December 2018 – Holmberg has made Team Sweden for the upcoming WJCs, and is starting the tournament on the top line. This is a prime opportunity for an offensive breakout. Hayden Soboleski

December 2018 – One of the Leafs’ fastest-developing prospects, Holmberg is now being moved to the RW to get him on the top line, rather than playing 2C/3C. He has now played all three forward positions

I don't get to watch the Amerks at all. We talk so much about our middle 6 not being able to create space. I have the same concern about him, based on the preseason.

So Pilut sits tonight because Housley said he had a bad last game. But Okposo can go 21 games without a goal and he gets a free pass

Olofsson will be an AHL all star this year, along with Redmond and Smith imo.

His biggest deficiency is when opposing players use the boxout move ala basketball, but even then, as long as other players are positioned properly, it's not a huge concern.

Again, if Eichel goes down with an injury, this team plummets to the bottom of the standings.

Mittelstadt has done nothing to warrant any kind of confidence that he'll be a 2C.

Skinner is a 25 goal guy without Eichel.

Reinhart is a 40 point guy without Eichel.

Okposo is absolutely useless no matter how you spin it.

Sheary is trash.

Sobotka is useless.

Pominville is done.

Rodriguez is nothing more than a career AHL'er.

Larsson, Girgensons, they are what they are, 4th liners.

There is no one in the pipeline who will help this team pick up the slack if Eichel goes down with an injury.

We need to fix that. 4 first round picks are great, but we also have 2 or 3 of them on the team who are garbage.

Playing good in the AHL does not = playing good in the NHL.

Right now Olofsson is the only guy who has shown any kind of results that are expected of them.

10 times out of 10 you should trade for a guy like Seguin. If we have a Seguin and Eichel goes down, we tread water.

You have a chance to get a proven scorer in the league, at the most important position, who is a 1C on most teams in the league. What is there to think about? If GMJB is a cap wizard like we've heard, this won't be a problem.

I'm all for trying anything at this point, but if you read about or watch the Amerks, CJ Smith has been the best, most consistent Amerk forward by a country mile. He deserves a shot well before anyone else on that team

Of course this is the truth, but this is how average teams make the playoffs, puck luck and health.

Also, Skinner has had a 37 goal season with no Eichel, he just wouldn't come close to 50 without him.

Jeff Skinner needs 4 goals in 40 something games to accomplish what Evander Kane and Kyle Okposo couldn't do. Actually be a 30 goal winger for Eichel

please explain then why in the same draft, 6th rd AFTER THE SABRES TRADE

the wings got a 5th rd 2019 pick for for their 6th rd pick in 2018 (acquired from habs) from the blue jackets

the nucks traded their 6th round pick in the 2018 draft to the caps, for the caps 6th round pick in 2018 and 2019

I would love to know how they got a MUCH better return on a later pick in the 6th round from the 2018 draft

please enlighten us all

- homiedclown

"Botterill traded his sixth-round pick to Toronto for the Leafs' choice next year. Maybe if that deal had been with, say, Carolina, nobody would have cared. The GM said he wanted more assets next year. In the wake of the Evander Kane trade, Buffalo currently has nine picks for the 2019 draft in Vancouver."

This is from the article on draft day in the BN.
